Re: Quartzsite January 2017 Foretravel "Lemon" Gathering Reply #125 – January 02, 2017, 04:38:36 pm What is the soil like at camp Foretravel? At Phoenix raceway one year there was rain, not a lot of rain, and the ground turned to slime and motorhomes were spinning tires trying to get out of there. We waited on more day and got out but, everything was covered in mud, rugs, leveling blocks and shoes. Quote Selected
Re: Quartzsite January 2017 Foretravel "Lemon" Gathering Reply #126 – January 02, 2017, 05:25:26 pm We'll be there about the 15th. Craneman: Ground where we park is generally like concrete, although if you're way off in the bushes or parked in a wash (not recommended...), it can get a little soft in places. No mud problems, and if it rains, the ground is dry pretty quickly. Re: Quartzsite January 2017 Foretravel "Lemon" Gathering Reply #128 – January 03, 2017, 09:22:42 am Thin-Lite Giveaway!Since we went 100% LED inside our coach, and it appears none of my "homemade" lights are going to burst into flame, I have some "pull-out" fluorescent fixtures to give away. I don't really want to hassle with packing these things in boxes and shipping them. BUT, if you are coming to Q and could use them, I'll be happy to bring them with us. Even if you just need them for parts - I don't care what you do with them - just want them out of my garage. They were all working when removed, and are complete, except as noted. (bulbs may or may not be good)Here's what I've got:5 "short" units, Model 8W 171-2. Size: 2.25" x 17.5". Uses one F8T5 fluorescent tube.1 "medium" unit, Model 16W 172-11. Size: 2.25" x 29.5". Uses two F8T5 fluorescent tubes.5 "long" units, Model 26W 174-1. Size: 2.25" x 47.5". Uses two F13T5 fluorescent tubes. (One lens missing - cracked in half when I removed it)I also have a small box of un-needed fluorescent tubes (various sizes) that I will give away at Q - first come, first served.Let me know before Jan. 15 (our departure date) if you have any interest. Bring your old "stuff" and throw it in the pile! When I remove some item from my coach, I try to think if it would be of use to other owners. Especially if it is something unique to Foretravel, or a part from a outside supplier that is no longer in production. In some cases, even if another owner could use the item, getting it to them would be a big (expensive) hassle. So, when we have a large Foretravel gathering like Q, I think it is the perfect time to redistribute the wealth. If any other Q attendees have treasures they would like to donate to the cause, I encourage them to do so!By the way, my old Thin-Lites are now all spoken for. Those who snooze - lose. GeoffhWe got about 4 inches of rain with a ton of snow above us in N.Cal in the last day. John's travel window will be only open until Friday night with non-stop rain/snow for at least a week after that. Both the I-5 Grapevine and 58 to Mojave may be marginal after Friday.Pierce Quote Selected

Re: Quartzsite January 2017 Foretravel "Lemon" Gathering Reply #148 – January 04, 2017, 10:01:04 pm well we are out of that mess and unconventional methods to say the least. Got up at 6 am and dozens of cars around me with people sleeping all night. Cleaned the Tracker off and helped some people out of it and got them on their way. Amazing how something like this gets all the people together and help each. By noon I was about done but decided to drive to Yreka and see what road was like as Highways said no one moves. Well they had the I 5 clear to pavement but still making the poor truckers put chains on. I got hold of the lady with authority that had the road closed and told her what they must have known already that it was now clear and all of a suddun now it is ok to get one it!!!!An hour later I had slid the coach down a steep bank and needed to tie the hitch to a truck to pull it over one way while I reversed it down, we made it work. Ruth drove the car behind me and it all worked great. We are now parked in a TA truck stop 110 miles N of Sacremento and it is heaven. No more snow and warm.it was a very interesting day and night but one I do not want to do again. We will see what the Grapevine does but so far FT did good and no damages.I have pics but cannot send them as wifi is not good enough for it right now.JohnH Quote Selected 3 Likes
