To check fluid level from the driver's seat:
Transmission must be fully warmed up and stop on level ground. Best at rest area or fuel stop after couple of hour drive.
With engine running, transmission in neutral, push the up and down arrows at the same time.
The shift pad will show O L and then begin a count down.
At the end of the count down, it will show OL and either a - number or + number for how low/overfilled it is.
Just turn off the key or push N to exit this mode.
And you can also check for diagnostic codes from the driver's seat:
With engine off, ignition on: Push up and down arrows at the same time. Do it a second time.
It will now display: d 1 (for diagnostic code 1). If no codes, it will show d 1 - -. If there is a code, record it and push the MODE button to go to the next code. When you get to a - -, turn off key or push N to exit. Allison diagnostic codes are in you Allison manual and on Allison's website.
BTW, it an Allison 4000 series.
