Residential Fridge question for Mike H Re: Motorhomes of Texas Employs Saints

Now if you would just let them get back to the shop, a portion of our remod will continue!  (Actually we await Lowes getting the refrigerator, and Davis will be back to oversee a part of the install of a cabinet that he and Jackie have agreed upon)

What refrigerator did you get at Loews? We are trying to decide which one to get to install in the same opening.

I have a Samsung rf18hfenbsp on order from the Nacogdoches Loews. It was supposed to be at MOT 2 days ago for a Monday install with Keith. I hope he gets back and the fridge gets here in time.
I will say one thing, customer service at the Nacogdoches Loews is not good. Getting delivery information is impossible.

If they carry the refrigerator that you need, consider using Home Depot of Lufkin.  They were great  to deal with, on time and efficient..Delivered the frig to FOT  for storage until installation date. All the transaction was done by telephone.

Our experience mirrors Jerry's exactly, except we did everything online.  Ordered fridge (they did not have one in stock), Home Depot (Lufkin) sent us email when they got the fridge in, then another email to confirm the delivery address, date, time and contact info (David F. at FOT remodel shop).  Email from FOT confirmed fridge arrived on schedule...was waiting for us when we showed up a week later.

For xbox

We shopped lots....HD, Lowes, Sears, Conns.  Lots of models though quickly came to Whirlpool.

Lots of work, measuring, considerations with Keith Davis and Dave at MOT.  Goal included save the drawer/cabinet under the Dometic.  As Roger and Susan have, we will have a narrow vertical cabinet beside the refrigerator.  Plan is to have two shelves in it.

We came to this, it was important to work with Michael at Lowes, Nac.  A Whirlpool WRT314TFB (black).  It is a 14.3 cu ft.  It is one of those with improved design, so designated, and reportedly quieter than some.  We ordered an ice maker and MOT can install it. Lowe's will deliver to MOT and Michael has it on a tracking program, will advise when shipped and when received.  Does lot of work with MOT and FOT.  (go to Whirlpool web site, you will see three 14.3 cu ft models....all very similar)

The hang up in getting the refrigerator is with Whirlpool; I found that at all dealers.  They all cited two weeks delivery for this model.  Shorter time for some others.

We are replacing a Dometic RM1272 with about 12 cu ft but the space arrangement in the Whirlpool is very different.  For example. the usable freezer space with ice maker is almost triple that off the Dometic.  The refrigerator space is 1.5 cu ft larger.  We nearly went with the 11 cu ft Whirlpool, (some cite using the 10 cut ft Hier, seems a good option) and there is an option of a 16 cu ft Whirlpool.  It only weighs 8 lb more than the 14.3 but eats into the drawer below, maybe taking it out completely.  Its energy demand is only about 15 kwh greater than the 14.3

By the way, if you like, there is the Whirlpool WRT134 14.3 cu ft that is energy star however it lacks the glass shelves that Jackie wanted.  This one knocks off about 40 kwH from the WRT 314.

We stayed away from SS due to fingerprints, Dave Cobb advice.  And convection/microwave is black.  You can though buy Pledge Orange Cleaner at Lowes and it cleans the SS easily.  In that, and in the 16 cu ft if it meets your needs, look at the WRT316SFD which does not have handles, saves about two inches sticking out in the coach.  Note that the WRT316 has a newer SS finish but dealers tell me it really not much different than regular SS in showing handprints.  I have seen several very large Samsungs installed in friends FTs and they are very very impressive.  Would be a good option.....the price of the Whirlpool we paid was $450, on sale thru 9/13 but Michael also gave us an in-shore discount since we added an ice maker for $99.

If want to discuss, send me pm with phone number.  And if I cited a model number seems a bit off, call or write...did this without my notes, always open to lots of errors!

By the way.....the Dometic has failed again.  Keith Risch got it going for the most recent 1750 mile trip but upon return and defrost, again not cooling.

Pledge wipes work well on the stainless refrigerators.

Mike, think about your shelves and shelf spacing.  Get out a bunch of stuff that you might wand to put in there, soda cans, cake mix, cracker box, a box of pasta (elbow mac for example), your sink covers, a cutting board, a griddle or anything else and see what dimensions make sense.  The worst thing is a space that is just a bit not tall enough.    Be prepared.

Good ideas....kinda copying what you did, re: photos space for broom or narrow shelves

In part the refrigerator we selected is out of the 28 inch wide class so we can generate that space.  Of course a 24 inch width would have given that much more room but that reduced the refrigerator size more than we wanted.  As for the drawer below the refrigerator, I wonder if we might lose two inches height in it.....if so it still be very useful, providing you can still crawl on the floor to get to things, oops that is my job!

When we looked at losing the space under the LP refrig we thought about what was under ther and just how easy/not easy it was to get at.  The space next to the refrig now holds stuff that was always hard to find someplace to put as well as cans and boxes. We went throught pots and pans and bowls and baking pans and all of that an reorganized, got rid of, swpped for something else and when we were done it seemed like we had way more room.

Plus we added three drawers under the J dinette, huge increase in storage space and made the three drawers in the kitchen 30" deep instead of 20", another 50% increase in drawer space.

I've had nothing but positive experience ordering appliances from Plessers out of NY.  They typically have a good price, free shipping and no sales tax if your not in NY.  They are also very easy to deal with and accommodating over the phone.  My Samsung RF18 is on the truck for delivery next week.  Total cost $999.  They will ship it to your house, MOT, FOT....wherever you want.  They also add a 10yr warranty on the cooling system for no $, although the Samsung compressor is already 10yr.
