Am I thrilled or disappointed??
I will will start from the beginning. I was in my mid 30's 1st there was the 1984 36' FT on a Roadmaster chassis with 454 chevy motor. Coach in pristine cond. I improved it as much as I could, I found out pretty quick that it did not like to stop quickly in the rain especially while pulling a trailer with mid weight sports car. I lived close to FOT. (60 mi). Kept her for about a year. Contacted FOT and told them I needed to upgrade to a diesel pusher. They said they had a 1990 U280 36' Reverse side Isle (as far as I know they only made 3) coming in from Florida. Saw it, we fell in love. It was totally untouched. Did the hardwood floor and reupholstered the couch to make DW happy. Now that I have more time on my hands and am on my 3rd coach. Have had the 1997 U295 for almost 2 years now and many upgrading re-modeling coach bucks later. The things we have done are: Fix all air leaks, rebuild steering box, Pop out stereo in dash that serves as Audit screed also, new CB. Re-upholster drivers and passengers seats along with dinning chairs and window valances. New carpet in bedroom, tile in bathroom. Kitchen and bathroom faucets, microwave, residential refrigerator. New 45" flatscreen in the living area and 35" in bedroom. New satellite dish. Now mind you, not 1 of these things needed to be done except dripping steering box, well DW is happy. The coach had no graphics when we got it, so that was taken care of also. We also added the woven vinyl material to the steps (something I wanted). Then there was the "New updated smart steering wheel (my idea). wound up costing me $3000.00+ (not all things work out lol).
Now for the "Thrilled or Disappointed" part. As I read daily on the forum of the mods, upgrades, enhancements and improvements that I see, made my list and go to the coach and see what I can do next. 1. Solar ...PO... Already there, 800 watts seems to work great, still learning. 2. Isolator panel...PO...already done nicely. 3. Now this leads me to the other day..The muffler... already had been changed to resonator and wrapped properly. (darn) 4. All bulbs inside coach have been changed to LED's...PO.
There are 3 things on my list that I know have not been done, 1. headlight and tail light upgrade, 2. step upgrade. 3. Remodel my utility bay as Don and Tys have done with stainless.
Well enough rambling for now...waiting for fall to get here for our next rip.
