King Cruise - Hard to Disable Cruise

This is another post for future searches. This coach is a 270 with King Cruise. The cruise worked fine but I had to mash the brake hard to get it to drop out of cruise. The problem turned out to be the treadle valve. Apparently, when you touch the brake pedal one of the air lines leads to the brake switches in the forward most driver's side compartment (on a 270). In order to get that signal, the brake pedal had to be pushed hard. After installation at FT of a new treadle valve, it works as it should. Just a slight touch to the pedal and the cruise disengages.

That treadle valve is a mess of air lines and is difficult to get to. I would not want to do this job myself. For future reference, the cost at Foretravel was a little over $400 for this job. Lots of labor.

If you have this issue, check the brake switches, the King Control and the Treadle Valve.

Where exactly is the treadle valve located?

Directly below the brake pedal. On this rig if you open the front most left compartment and look up you can see it.

What is the difference between the treadle valve and the Cruise Control Signal Generator?

Someone else will have to chime in on this one. The treadle valve is like an air distribution valve attached directly to the brake pedal. I really don't know much about it.

John M,  The treadle is the air brake valve that transfers air from brake tanks to wheels and other brake components.  One of the components are brake light switches that send 12-volts to brake lights and King Cruise control to tell the system do turn off cruise control if it was on.
