Re: Bob's trans. troubles

Thanks for your repllies. Coach runs normal. No heating. Mods have no electrical connection with engine or trans.
Trans/engine temp gauge read within 3-4 degrees of what they did before the fan controller swap.
All the other brands use the 199 degree fan control as far as I know. This one was from beaver.
Only difference was the engine temp was at 205 from a hard climb then an immediate downhill with the retarder on its third position.
Did the exact down hill trans temp a month ago coming down from sequoia. And down the grapevine in ca.
Only difference was the engine temp was not elevated.
That does not mean,of course, that sensors cannot be bad, so I thank everyone for their experience.
Will check with my cummins shop forum when we get home.
After 25k miles using the coach fairly hard at time this was the only time I had elevated engine and trans from the retarder at the same time.
I think the two computers are tied together in this way.
Turned off retarder buzzer and light went off immediately.
Used the retarder later without elevated engine temp and no buzzer at 235 just to test.
I assume every part in this coach is bad until proven otherwise. So any failure is expected in a way.
Rare spot after the Eisenhower tunnel westbound to have hard pulls up hill at high altitude then a steep downhill right after.
Probably a good safety item to warn the driver if both the engine and trans temps are medium hot.
Bet I never see this again.
Will use your info when I talk to my shop guy who is a dead pro.
Thank you again.
