costco diesel

We're a bit behind the times I guess because we didn't know that Costco was selling diesel in quite a few locations.  Here is the website if your like us and didn't know as well.  Faith

We use Costco quite a bit, but they can be tight to get into and busy as well. Sometimes just to much hassle esppecally with the toad on.

Thanks Faith,

I was not aware, but diesel autos are getting popular so it must make sense for Costco to expand its offerings.  Several friends have Jeep Grand diesels and they love them. Read that Costco makes most of its profit in memberships, fuel stations & food court.  We only use Costco to fill our Jeep when we are in a Costco area.

Pump isles are almost always backed up at all pumps.  It seems to me that this is no place for a motorhome, except maybe at 6am or when they open.  Could end up being transferring dollars saved to damage repair for coach, pumps or other autos.  Hoses also fill slower than truck stops.  But Costco always seems to have the lowest fuel prices, sometimes by a lot, and a Costco Citi membership credit card discounts fuel price even more.

We needed fuel the other day, looked at a Costco, there were cops all over. Some one had tried to get in and tore the side of the coach apart.  They do not make these stations for us!

There is one here in the great white north that sells fuel.  I buy most of my diesel there it is the cheapest around and the islands are spotless. downside is they are busy and entry and exit are tight but its as cheap as buying fuel stateside after the exchange rate and I don't have to change a bunch of money over.

As I said all of the Costo's fuel Islands are tight and busy. If you are not comfortable with your coach in tight places it could cost more than you save on the fuel.

So they can negotiate various level discounts with the big trucking companies that are the bulk of their business, and they count on exit proximity to get the rest of us to pay their higher price

The big truck stops give us truck drivers bonus points when we fill up 50 gallons or more a free shower usually 12.00 if you don't have a credit on your rewards card, also we accumulate  points you can spend on things in the store, electronics ,whatever. each gallon gives you a point or something like that. I'm sure the really big company's like Schneider, Swift, etc have contracted fuel discounts because they buy so much and make their chain a dedicated fuel stop. But I also know those drivers don't get the rewards points, they will get a shower credit for over 50 gallons of fuel but no points to use in the store. Those big company's also usually take up all the available parking spaces while doing mandatory 10 hr rest breaks. Causing others to go elsewhere. I think some of those inflated fuel costs cover all the freebies that the drivers think they are getting. and the money lost when their parking lot is full of truck not spending any money. I shop my fuel by cost ,whoever has the best deal gets my money.
