Installing Valterra 3rd valve

I'm in the process of installing the Valterra T1003VPM valve.
I have all the parts the some or yous have installed, including the ABS glue.

My problem is the the Valterra T1005 Slip Hub Flange is a really hard fit on the 3" black pipe.
I can only fit it about 7/8 length and that is tapping it on with a mallet. Can not even rotate the flange at that point.
I think that I have the pipe cut to the correct length, but really want to be sure before gluing.

Has any one else had that problem and how did you fix that.>

Use sandpaper to round off the edges of the piece you are setting the fitting on. Clean the pipe before dry firing also. Usually helps.

Also when you juice both pieces up with glue it will get more slickery and should go on farther.

Thanks guys.
I did sand down the black -dwv- pipe and there are no burrs inside or outside of that pipe.
Just for fun, went to a box store and dry fitted the Valterra slip flange hub to a pvc pipe and it fit perfectly. That leads me to think the black pipe is just a touch over size. More sandpaper tomorrow.

As Stump said...butttt, if it doesn't go where you want it to, you're SOL.
