Slide Bladder Not Deflating Again

My previous post (and Forum members' good follow-up on this topic) was eight months ago. Moderators: if you would prefer to join the threads, that's fine.

The reason for posting again is because in Santa Fe this morning, we had the same problem. We are due in Phoenix on Saturday to begin a new job (both of us still work). Is there someone in Tucson or Phoenix who is Foretravel savvy that Forum members would recommend? We just can't get back to Nacogdoches this time.  :-(

With thanks!

We have a "Arizona Coach" that has been serviced by both these firms in the past, the PO said nothing about them, so, you'll have to do the legwork, I'd be interested. By the way, we're just down the road in Ajo, come vist!

Mike,

Thanks for the suggestions! If we use either facility, we'll sure give you (and other Forum members) an update! Thanks for the invitation to get acquainted, too. Once we have our feet on the ground and all the coach worries resolved, we'll check-in with you.

Now we're off for another 300 miles with the audible alert for the level system serving as accompaniment to our drive!

Would sure consider cutting the wire to the alarm and reconnecting with butt connector when fixed.  The alarm would drive me crazy in a 300 mile drive.

Be sure to keep an extra-careful eye on gauges if you do disconnect it.  But same goes for driving with the alarm on-- it would not change what happens were you to even loose oil pressure.

I have no personal experience with these guys, but others on the blog have recommended them, and I saved the information.

Thanks, Brett, re: cut and reconnect. I'm not familiar with a "butt connector." Is that just a quick disconnect of some sort? You're right: 5 hours with the alarm dinging yesterday were about my limit. Had a large adult beverage upon arrival.

Despite me not understand the term, I think your post answered a question I was about to ask:  that is, are there separate wires for each sensor to trigger the audible alarm (i.e., oil, air, etc.)? Since it appears we will continue to have this slide problem, if there is a separate wire from the leveling system to trigger the alarm, could a switch be installed to mute only that? Sounds like the answer is "no"?

I do watch the gauges VERY carefully, regardless. The VDOs in our 1999 are mostly dead, so we run Silverleaf's VMSpc on a laptop that sits on the dash.  Coolant, transmission, and oil temperatures and oil pressure are all in my frequent scan—along with the two air gauges on the dash.

Thanks again!

Just FYI for all who are reading this thread: I have a friend, Thomas Schmidt, who says that Cummins Rocky Mountain in Phoenix is one of the best shops he has seen: clean, efficient, helpful. This friend owns a business with locations in CA and FL that do boat rebuilds and custom marine craft, so he understands what high-end customer service should be and he is a lot more mechanically astute than I am. He also owns a Newmar Dutch Star and is traveling full-time with his family, so he is RV-aware.

Cummins probably can't help with what ails us at the moment, but since we also appear to have small core leak in our radiator, I have a feeling we'll be seeing Cummins Phoenix sometime between now and April.

That said, hope this post helps someone else with diesel or generator needs.

Google electrical butt connector, essential a crimp on way of splicing two wires.
In this case, I would use a "spade" type crimp on connector, which has a male and female end, which would make it easier to disconnect again in future if situation arose.
If using "spade" connector, I always use the ones encased in insulating material, I have run across "bare metal" versions

How could I forget the obvious:  just Google it!  Thanks, Tim, and thanks for the additional info/suggestions.

In a different thread,  good info about installing a switch, too:  Dash Warning Alarms

Thanks, everyone!

One very nice thing about Tucson; it's a heck of a lot easier to steer a big coach around than Phoenix!  ^.^d

As far as the dash gauges my guru buddy pulled the wires off the gauges and squeezed the ends tighter and then reinstalled the wires

Just saw this thread ... that is an old address for Premier. They have done a good bit of maintenance work on our rig.  The new address is 4340 E Tennessee St, Tucson.  Phone number is the same.  They can plug you in and keep you overnight, if need be.  Tell Eric that we sent you!

For making wiring connections, I prefer long neck crimp-on caps.  pretty fool proof, single crimp.  Lots of sizes available.  100 for $less than $4.
