August SmartLock

Trying to get some insight from everyone.  The keyless entry receiver on my coach is dead.  The cost to replace the unit is about $350 -$450 not counting the installation.  I still have to worry about keys and remotes unless I go with a keypad installation and the coast and work to install is the same.  Watching Ask This Old House I ran into a device that would work on our coach utilizing the current door lock and only takes about 10 minutes to install at under $200.  All you need to operate it is your smartphone.  It is called the August SmartLock.  It looks very promising.  They have different generations with the latest being able to work with Apple and using SIRI.  Below is a video of the product and installation.  What say you?

Awesome lock, plan on using on the sticks and bricks. Great solution, but will not lock and unlock your storage bays like the current system.

Tim I agree, but I still can use the power door locks for the bays on the inside without using the keys.  I am not in my storage bays all the time and once I am in there I lock up quickly?  For some people that are technically challenged this may be a great solution.

Totally agree, in many ways is a Sapir your solution. With a Internet bridge in the dwelling and a live Internet connection, you can manage your house entry, unlocking, locking  and access from anywhere in the world. The product seems to be easy to install and has very good reviews which is why I am going to install one in the new sticks and bricks house in gig harbor Washington

For some reason I want to say someone had installed one on their RV and since their phone was always very close to the lock it did not work good in their RV.  I do not remember how long ago I read this. I did a search but came up with nothing so might have been similar, but a different product. I want to say the phone connected to the lock via bluetooth, not sure how this one talks to the lock.

T-Man,
That is a possibility, but I'm not sure I want to take my chances on a used keyless remote system.  I would still have to purchase the remotes.
