Leveling Error, Leaking Six Pack

During the recent remodel project which we had done at MOT,  I reported a couple of concerns unrelated to remod.  One of these was that on a recent trip the entire coach would settle about two inches in three or four weeks.  Strange, to me, it stayed level while settling.

(I bet Barry or Michelle could explain settling but level behavior, something about the algorithm of adjusting to level.  Maybe it should have even directed me to where the leak had to be?)

I had also asked MOT to check the six pack as I was seeing on the Forum some members mention making repairs or seeking repair kits or asking what were the symptoms that showed the six pack could be the issue.

Turns out that I had three leaking at the front HWH 6 pack.  The O-ring kit was very inexpensive, labor reasonable, included remove the Aux air tank to access the 6 pack. 

Sure lots of opportunities for air leaks.......6-pack, air bag or tank or aux compressor or check valve or slide over the step or bladder or a valve or fitting, etc.

Mike, did they just replace the O rings or the plunger and spring too in each solenoid on the 6 pack?  You only mention the O rings and that is why I am asking.

If you leave the HWH system in "Auto Level" mode (i.e. the HWH panel red "AIR" light is "ON" when you park the coach and turn off ignition) then the system will try to keep the coach level.  If you then have a small leak that allows one corner or side to drop, the HWH system will compensate by releasing air to lower the opposite corner or side.  This process will continue until either:
A.  The coach is completely down on the hard stops, AND the HWH system thinks it is level in that position.
OR
B.  The HWH system can no longer achieve level by releasing air.  At that point, it will start trying to level by adding air with the AUX compressor.

Chuck,  before with leaks have just had lean to one side, so as I think that is controlled by rear level system, that is to where the HWH in time would send a puff of air to get back to level.  Sorta of ditto to front low, bit of air shot out to front bags.  (Me thinks Barry or Michelle taught me that how it work...?).

But i have not seen the entire coach sinking slowly slowly lower.  Got to wondering, should or could I have diagnosed where the problem was from that observation?  Strange enough that non foretravel owner friends thought with rains maybe coach was sinking into ground....not.  Close to sitting on some tires.  Think the answer for that woulda been to crank up, raise coach and start over from higher point settling down

John, good thought.  All the repair report said for parts was a kit charged.  I need check on that....and maybe ask if checked all six if three were leaking??  Which brings into questiion the rear six.  Several years ago though when had the dust problem think that done, to check.  Thanks John

Correct.  HWH system does not try to maintain height - it only tries to maintain level.  The initial corrective action is to release air - when that no longer works, it will add air via aux pump.

Mike, if it was only a few $ for that "kit" then I doubt they changed out the complete inside parts, just the O rings. If this is the case I again personally believe that that is a big mistake, especially with having it all apart. The area of the actual sealing point is so small and if they have never previously been replaced it behooves one to do it properly after all the years since new.

One other point re "out of level" comments posted, I agree with Chuck that the 6 pack controls an out of level (bag to bag) issue as I have just done recently to friends C Coach HWH where his coach after a few hours dropped on the front right corner. This had been an issue for about a year. While visiting us a month ago I convinced him to let me take it apart and replace the pieces that I had got from Chuck for future use on our coach. Once all serviced he happily calls me while travelling that all is now well. Total cost of service  $100!
I have since ordered 2 more kits from Tom on Newell Forum which are waiting for me to pick up. Great deal.
