Looking For Service Shop Recommendation

We just returned from a 3800 mile round trip TX to Oregon and back.  Our old coach made us proud - ran like a top the whole way - and never skipped a beat.  En route, I noticed one small area of concern when I was checking tire pressures.  The air chuck, when it was removed from the curb side rear inner valve stem, would have grease on it.  This morning I crawled under to take a closer look, and I see definite signs (between the duals) of oil leakage from the rear axel seal.  It's not dripping on the ground (yet), and the oil level in the differential is up to the fill hole, so I guess it's not a emergency.  But I do want it fixed before we head for Q in January.

At the same time I get the seal replaced, I also want to get to get all the brakes inspected, slide pins cleaned, helper springs installed, and slack adjusters set.  I want to schedule this work at a shop in NAC - just wondering which place would be best.  I am sure FOT, MOT and Old Town could handle this work.  Any good reason to pick one over the other?  Any recent experience getting this type work done?

All positive comments/suggestions/recommendations will be appreciated.  I don't need to hear any horror stories about poor service work at these shops...we already have other threads going that cover that subject matter.  Thanks in advance!

I had ours done at MOT as did a friend who had a wheel frozen to barely turn due to rusted slide pin.

I assume others could also do the work.

All three are competent.  Why not call all three and ask about scheduling and cost?

I'll do that!  I thought perhaps one of the shops might have a particularly sharp and well-known "brake man".

If you're still located in West Texas, home of the last oil boom, you should find plenty of service opportunities there. I've had one of my wheel inboard seals satisfactorily replaced at a local truck shop that handles a lot of local dump and log haul trucks. I'd call local shops, you may find a future trip saver. This local shop will NOT do anything that requires access to the inside of the coach, he says his mechanics might touch something. I also would not have them try to address any HWH issues.

I did have pin springs installed on mine at MOT when I first bought the coach. They replaced 3 pins, cleaned and reinstalled the rest. Did they do a good job....who knows? I have good brakes, but I had that before the brake service. Was I satisfied.... without question. I knew ABSOLUTELY nothing about this monster, I was tickled to have the resources on NAC nearby to hold my hand.

We are still in Midland-Odessa, but the local shops that I have spoken to have little interest in servicing RVs.  They stay plenty busy working on oilfield trucks and equipment.  I went to the Cummins dealer in Odessa a couple years ago, and they told me they didn't work on motorhomes.  I've never been back to see them since.

Anyway, we like driving over to NAC every once in a while.  It is a easy 2-day trip, and the change of scenery from West Texas brown dirt is very pleasant.  I'm happy to travel a short distance and spend my cash at shops that actually want my business.  8)
