King Jack Antenna

Got rid of the non-functioning batwing in favor of a Jack antenna. What I like about these things is you don't have to crank them up and down. Reception seems to be as good or better than the batwing. Photo 1 shows the Jack with the rectangular mounting plate under it which covers the batwing footprint; photo 2 is the interior control that allows you turn the Jack to the best reception point. it has some LEDs that indicate signal strength; and photo 3 is the Jack's brain ((they call it the Power Injector). It requires 12v and ground and allows for two TVs and a cable connection.

Is that dial in place of the crank up?

Yes. When you turn the knob you are rotating the antenna. As you turn it you observe the LEDs to identify the strongest signal. The Jack eliminates the little booster switches.

Jor, just remove old crank up.. use existing 12v.. and antenna coax..

Jor have you tried to remove the caulk that they used to run the satellite cable?  Trying to get it off but goodness it won't budge.

George,
  Is this (photo) the cable you're referring to? I intend to remove the satellite but haven't done it yet. I usually go after caulk with a putty knife, followed by a razor blade (in a holder). There just isn't any easy way to do it. To remove the batwing, I had to use a putty knife and hammer and carefully break the seal. If you get too aggressive you'll peel the gel coat right up off the fiberglass.

Yes. You should enlarge the hole to 2 1/4." You can use a rasp on a drill motor or just cut it with a saber saw. In reality though, I think there is enough room with the existing hole with maybe just a little file work.

Yes John that is the one.  Mine is led on a diagonal to a cIam shell. I have three cables running together and may sheath them and put them back in the grove left from the first.  Ugly.  I am removing the base tomorrow so thanks for the tip.  Last thing I want to do is peel the gel coat.
