97 U320 M11 air filter

 Doing a full maintenance on my parents coach. Went to install a Donaldson air filter and it seems the large end gasket is more inboard ( towards center of filter) than the filter removed. I do not know the brand of removed filter. Has anyone had a issue getting the Donaldson filter to seat in the intake housing to allow the front cover to be installed.  Thanks Mike

Mike I suggest you take a picture and post the # of filter also coach yr and model. You are not trying to put it in can in reverse are you??
