Heck, I just repaired two of mine for $0.98/apiece. The double ended spring breaks and then Dometic wants you to buy a new one for almost $40.00!!
I saw a post on how to replace the spring and went for it.
Go to your local hardware outlet (Lowes, Ace, etc) and buy the double roller cabinet latch hardware. It has two nylon rollers opposed to each other and pressure from a spring pushes them together. The male part is separate and has a "somewhat spearpoint" shape.
This part you can chuck.
The part with the rollers--take it apart by grinding off the rivet head. Take the pin out of your Dometic door latch and remove the spring, noting how it goes in. Bend one leg of the cabinet spring to match the leg of the old Dometic spring. Cut about 1/8" off the leg you bent. Reassemble with the Dometic parts and pin. Put it on the door and you are good for quite awhile and you will never know it was broken!!
