GV XVK

So early this summer I seen a foretravel on Craigslist that looked good. Joined this invaluable forum in search of knowledge and wisdom. Between this site and beamalarm I now feel confident in these coaches. Got extremely busy at work and just couldn't pull off the logistics of going to inspect a coach 700 mile round trip. It disappeared off of Craigslist. Found an unfamiliar phone number scribbled on the back of something, called it yesterday and the coach is still available. I will make time now to go inspect.

Many thanks to all!

88 40' gv with 140k miles. XVK=$15k. Everything supposedly works except Ice maker, manuals & records included. Glass good. Laminate hardwood throughout except raised cockpit. The owner used it to travel to job sites to remodel restaurants. Upoulstery is decent but dw doesn't care for color/pattern 2cb ?. 6 new date tires & 2 New 8ds. 3208t cat. Can legally drive with standard license in KS. Leaves me 15 CBS for repairs and upgrades

So its closer to a 260 ORED than a U designation. Couple of questions from my research. I think I read in original Phred Poop sheets that there was a correlation between wheelbase length to overall length ratio that a greater ratio results in better crosswind stability, is this true? 30 mph crosswind will not be unusual in my travels.

Second ? Is tow insurance a value, or are there too many loopholes? Not much of the fine print seems to be available online. So many getchas to consider before they gotcha. Can you even get it for this vintage coach?

?260 ORED?

Yes, the greater the WB/OL, the better the handling in a cross wind, everything else being equal.

The 1988 ORED "looks" like the other GrandVillas, just on an Oshkosh (bought out by Freightliner) chassis.

Towing insurance has been well worth the money for us. We had it through KOA and now with Good Sam. Each time we've nee them for a tow or on-road service they've come through  ^.^d

If you mean Coach Net, Good Sam, etc. I have Coach Net since 2014 and it save my butt last August. Pulled me out of a rain soaked field. The age of your coach does not matter for "tow" insurance.

Coach Net's web site is somewhat lacking but I've noticed they finally added a link to a brochure that lists the coverage. Many people complained about the lack of coverage information in the past. One forum poster (SOF) who wanted to review the benefits prior to purchasing stated he was told he would get his copy of benefits after he purchased the tow insurance !?
I have the BASIC plan which I just renewed. However when I was surfing the web site I was unable to find the BASIC plan offered. Once I logged on I was able to renew my $79 annual basic plan. However even after I was logged on to the Coach Net web site I did not see the $79 Basic plan offered to new customers. Like I mentioned web site needs work.

We have roadside assistance as part of our insurance policy from Progressive.  It is an extra $31/year.  2 years ago we were hauled on a big tilting flatbed about 20 miles to a repair place.  All I had to do was sign.  The bill was over $800 and didn't cost us a penny.
