Next Years Projects

We all having a list, either written down or in our minds of what we want to do to our coaches

in the upcoming year. I thought it might be fun for us to post our ideas, which might spark

an interest in some of us that are looking for ideas.

Here is a short list of some things I would like to get done this coming year

1. install new surround sound system
2. rewire the three tv's with correct switching for all I want the system to do
3. redo the basement with proper storage systems
4. do another wax coat
5. paint the roof
6. do what it said on my first drivers license : "Tear along the dotted line!"

OK:    1 Get the flat screen up properly from the "get it up to see the game" condition.
2 Finish taking the vinyl off the coach and decide on what the next decoration will be.
3 Get the bulkheads checked and repaired as needed.
4 Make some sense out of what the DW wants in the way of furniture. (16 years of fulltiming and we're still working on it)
          5 New fuel lines

Find a place that needs to get rid of some money as I have a place for it. This probably should be Number One

Luckily as we are not full timing I just fix/change whatever I see needs it right then. I have to stop sitting in one of the Dining Room chairs 'cause that is when I think "now I can make that look better". Off I go and it is done.
So no list of things to do for me - as said earlier, luckily.

John,

Do either (or both) of these involve new insulation? If so, what are you going to use for the generator?

Thanks,

As of right now, mine are in very good shape for their age.  I will remove and replace with custom made insulation blankets with grommets for securing, they can be removed for cleaning if necessary.
The below site is only for reference only as I have not talked to them.  I live in the Houston area and will shop prices and styles when the time comes.  I received 1 quote for $1200 for the engine compartment.  That seemed a little high.  I do not expect it to be cheap, should last many many years

Just checked the files, our compartment was re-done in 2013, they did a beautiful job! Phoenix., cost around a CB.

Hm-m-m. Can't count labor 'cause I'm retired (and tired) but redoing the engine compartment of our '89 with two layers of fireproof sound deadening insulation with nice shiny waterproof surfaces was about 1/10 CB or $100, not including shipping. ^.^d  ^.^d

Several have asked what my resolution is?

  - get taller, for many years was to loose weight, never worked. In studying a height/weight chart in the doctors office
says I should be 8' 41/2" tall, so maybe this will work, can't fail anymore than weight loss did for me?

  - finish the '84 FT

  - spend the late summer in New England and head south with the leaves

  - go to Quartzite (make reservations early)

  - make someone smile everyday this year. It is contagious, try it.

Got to add another one to my list.
Find out why the generator start switch in the bedroom quit working and why the switch on the generator itself doesn't work. Only switch working now is the gen start on the dash.
Wiring schematics I have do not show bedroom switch wiring.

No help, but thanks, we've a (by PO) t.v. back there that blocks the rocker panels, so I never knew we had a switch for the gen-set! It works, but I get nada from the "cab" switch I assume if one bulb goes bad the whole system goes down?

Two big projects:  Replace radiator for ISM and bulkhead bolts.
Smaller projects: Rear view camera, trouble shoot entertainment system, replace toilet with manual one, and everything else that comes up.

May not all get done in 2017 but here are the next upgrades:

*  driver's side windshield
*  new windows all the way around
*  full body paint (or half or ?)
*  solar
*  new mud flap (lost most of it on the last trip)
*  replace bedroom TV
*  shelving in bathroom (2 places)
*  fire suppression system in engine & fridge
*  new Hadleys (rusted but work)
*  possible residential fridge or perhaps marine fridge?

....sigh....the list never ends....I do like what Paul Y. told me about this old girl: "at least you know what you've got"....she has been rebuilt from the ground up since I got her 3 years ago....so every time I even entertain the notion of getting a newer coach, I now realize it's cheaper to keep her....  8)

I love to make lists of projects. It feels so good to mark things off as done. Sometimes I put things on the list that I've just finished, just so I can scratch them off My List.

1 Replace headlight bulbs, re align & rewire outside hi beams to low beam position. Rewire inside set as hi/low beams.

2 Hang bike rack from ladder

3 Install new back up camera

4 Install solar panels & battery monitor for charging, New bigger house battery bank

5 Replace old muffler with resonator

6 Re vamp gen exhaust

7 Remodel for new front tv/ dvd

8 Remodel table/chairs to dinette

9 Replace carpet back to bedroom with wood/vinyl

10 Remove rear tv

OK that's enough for now.

There will always be projects. Life is a project.

Cheers, Happy New Year Ric 8)

Some simple stuff, some not so simple.
Stay healthy,
Try to heal a broken friendship.
Work 50 days at HFH,

And the easy stuff ...

Remove the LP tank,
Replace it with a 10 lb refillable,
In the big LP tank's place, add 800 amp hrs of additional batteries (4-L16 6 volt).
There is room for 1200 amp hrs.
Add a small 1kw inverter for refrigerator and entertainment stuff.
Add 4/0 wiring from the isolator to the third battery bank.

Travel for 7 months.

My list isn't to long. First update graphic colors. Plan to use same pattern just use fresh colors. Also plan to add mirrored stainless to the bottom of storage compartments. Like many others wax with Ice. My goal is to park next to newer coaches and have mine look nicer than there's.  I know that sounds smug but I'm proud of this ol girl and I want her standing tall.
