I wouldn't use ether if an engine has glow plugs. If you have hard starting problems with an engine with glow plugs the plugs need to be checked out to see if they are working

I've never heard of an M-11 with a grid heater.  I don't believe FT would install an unsafe system-liability costs!

Thanks for the information. I've heard that the M11 has a grid heater, but I've never seen any documentation to indicate that it does.

A mechanic told mr that he had used WD40 for a starter fluid for years but that he heard
that the formula (or propellent) had changed and it was no longer good for a starting
fluid. I do not know, hope someone on here knows more about it.

My Cat engine has an ether start aid on it, but I have never had to use it. It cranked at
16 deg. the other morning. I have only used ether over the years in rare situations. When
I was young ( a  L O N G  time ago) an older diesel mechanic told me that every time I
used ether it took a hundred hours off the life engine. Not sure how accurate it is but
makes some sense?

You may be correct in the water.  May be a scientifically created molecule that flows and looks like water but isn't
