Tire/wheel swap out

We currently own two FT's.  Our 1996 U295 40' has 2016 tires and the 1998 U320 36' has 2012 tires.  Both units have 275/80R22.5 Michelin's.  Are the wheels and bolt patterns the same on both coaches allowing them to just be swapped?  We're going to sell the '96 but, want to put the newest tires on the coach we're keeping.  Thanks

As long as they are both the same type wheel yes. If they both have thensquare ended stud on the rear wheels you can direct swap them

Like Toby has posted it may be possible if the same type wheel but I doubt it. Here is why in '96  you had BUDD wheels or what is referred to as stud piloted wheels, and like he said the rear studs will lave a square head which is what holds the inner wheel.  On your '98 it may have (most likely will have) hub piloted wheels.  Somewhere in this timeframe is when they made the swap.  You will have to go out and check the '99 to see if it has BUDD wheels but I doubt it.

One other thing is does your 295 have all 6 wheels that are aluminum?  Some of the 295s along with the 270s  had 4 aluminum with the 2 inners being steel . The 320 will have 6 aluminum or 8 with a tag.

Also our coach has steel wheels (not aluminum) for inner duals.  And aluminum wheels are different for front and rear, with 'outer' side polished on front and 'inner' side polished on rear, with both back sides not polished.  Assume nothing.  It may work out to pay for rubber swaps and rebalance.

As long as it has the same style studs the steel inner wheels can move over just move the studs overboard with them as the shoulder is likely a different length for the thinner steel wheel flange.

You must make sure the stud type is the same. The bolt pattern itself is the same for both but the hole for the wheel stud is larger on the stud pilot wheel.

If the wheels are different, you can always take both of them to where a tire
truck can get to you or go to a tire dealer and have the tires broken down and
remounted. I would call in advance and get the price. Same amount of work
either way but seems the price of MH work is much higher. If I were calling I'd
start by asking how much to breakdown and remount the tires between two
bobtail trucks. That would give you a price to start with.

Alcoa aluminum wheels are super cheap new if you look around. Also forged so they don't chunk off a piece like cast wheels do. They make polished both sides, one side and a matte finish on both sides. Make sure the offset is the same on the old and the new.
