Keep looking - google the part number - you may find a better deal - was interesting that you can apparently rebuild it too

Red,

Look at Colaw RV  and at Visone RV.

I bet one or both will have it.

Visone has several FT they are wrecking.

Pull it off and take it to the starter alternator, electric motor shop, they should be able to rebuild it for you, probably worn out the brushes in it.

I got the rebuild kit for my 2001 compressor here.

Results for 'Thomas'

Lots of compressors and rebuild kits.  Priced right too.

That's Steve's work/write up/photos scraped from the forum.
Is something wrong with that?

Wow Michelle it appears it was posted to a forum, so people could look/use and benefit at the author's choice. And you come along and throw down legal rights.

Big piston short stroke would appear to be high volume low pressure. Only to be strangled by appearently 1/4"  id tubing. Might want to buy a much cheaper normal off the shelf compressor and a regulator more moisture production, so you may have to replace/ recharge the desiccant more often but not 2 cb's

What going on in this?  Was it originally by Steve to the Forum, then copied by another reference from the Forum and now appears outside the Forum?

By the way, I was thinking that if something is copyrighted you cannot just copy and publish it in entirety just because you cite the source.  On the other hand, many journals and periodicals do allow limited copies if you get permission, or even some without written permission, and there is some rule about things being in the public domain that excerpts can be quoted, cited, but that is not the same thing as just republishing a whole work.

Hmmmm.  Wonder what law says?

Well I didn't know that Michelle! Excuse me for trying to contribute something that might help out another forum member. The members of this site are always referring searching the Beamalarm site for it's wealth of information. He has accumulated years and years of research in one place, that you will find nowhere else!. So he found Steve's write up and thought it was written good enough to be stored in his website files where Foretravel people could find and access it. Wow!  A google search brought that up and I posted it. smh I'll remove the post sorry your toes got stepped on.

Barry has posted many articles on his beamalarm website. A lot of them started out as postings on this and other sites by many different authors. Most (if not all) of them give full credit to the original author.

We frequently see links from Foreforums to his site and see frequent statements of praise for Barry's accumulation of all things Foretravel. At one time, most of Steve Cook's articles were posted on Foreforums for the benefit of other members. At some point, Steve removed his articles from Foreforums and posted them onto another website.

This is the first time I remember someone complaining about something posted on Barry's beamalarm website. I sure hope this thread does not convince him to take his football somewhere else, too.

2 questions, why did Steve move his articles to another website and is that website allowed to be mentioned so I could read some of the articles? I am too new here to have read any of Steve's posts and when doing searching on the Forum wind up getting links to information on Barry's website and have used it to do my own repairs. Both the Forum and Barry's site has saved me much time and money. I asked before about what would happen if we lost the ability to have the Forum.

Giving credit to the author does not mean it was used with the author's permission which is required by the user's agreement when copying a forum post for use somewhere else.
Barry's last post on this Forum was about two years ago although I am sure he looks in on us from time to time.
Unfortunately as far as I can tell, all of Steve's posts on the ForeForum have been removed (presumably by him.) Some from the Yahoo days still exist.

This thread has gone seriously off track. How is this misdirection relevant to Red's original post?

Sure about that? There is a fair use doctrine AND at the top of the webpage is a link to the original post (though, it is error when clicked). It is obvious that credit is being given AND the original information was posted on a FORUM which is considered to be public.

here's some info: Is it Illegal to Copy and Paste Posts from Another Person's Website

Quote
You may be violating the copyright of the individual poster.

The Fair Use exception to copyright offers many ways that a knowledgeable person may legally use someone else's copyrighted work without their permission.

I don't follow the legal mumbo jumbo, but when people quote or paste news articles, I think the acceptable practice is to provide the link and citation to the original author.

Before this gets locked can it be split or restarted to the subject at hand? I am not interested in the legal end, just want to find out if any of Steve's articles can be found. I did a Google search using "Steve Cook Foretravel" and found him and Michelle linked to articles but would like to know more.
