Tires,tires,tires...."Ben" needs new shoes

I know its been hashed over before...but I need some advise/opinions on a purchase (currently Michelin 27580R22.5 XZE2)
How are folks enjoying other brands.  Toyo,Hancook,General,Continental...etc

I am feeling much more comfortable on our now 8 month old Michelins.  Looked at several other brands.  I am not sure any would have been a bad choice.  The difference between lower end and Michelins was about $100, maybe a bit more, per year over their lifetime.  Get whatever lets you drive without any concerns.

I had 7 year old Michelin's on my coach up until last month.  I had a blow-out on the passenger rear.  Fortunately no damage nor any problems pulling over to side of I10.

I called Southern Tire Mart near where we were stranded and they came out and replaced one tire on the side of the road and then I went to their shop and had the remaining 5 replaced as well

Firestone FS591 295/75R-22.5 16 ply load range H.  I like the way they handle, not better than the previous Michelin's, but equal.  They were just under $3k installed including the service trip to change the BO.

I inherited Toyo M154s (295/75) from the PO when I bought my current coach.  I don't think that I could see much difference between these and Michelins.  Due to someone chintzing on the Toyo installation (not installing new valve stems) I recently had to replace 2 of these at a total cost of $1K -- about the same as Steve's Firestones.

One that I would stay away from are Dayton metro bus tires.  These came with my previous coach and gave such a harsh ride I could almost feel every pebble of gravel on campground roads.

we have Toyo 147 on front and could not get the Toyo for rear due to T Canada having none so put Firestone FS 591 and they are fine.

Got. New set of Continental RA 295/75 load range H (same tire it came with from PO). My previous set were five years old and just bought New as a precaution. Drive out under $3k. They handle and ride great, no complaints.

Most choices depend on how picky you might be as far as ride and handling,

Not that all the tires are not good  but the Michelins seem to be the top choice.

Foretravel has speced the Michelins for thirty years as far as I know.

I am a very picky driver and a former Foretravel Rv sales manager and a  Foretravel owner and I really appeciate everyone's opinions.

That being said the idea I can save money is nice but I would be unhappy if the savings cost me in ride or drive or noise quality.

Not a price buyer on these.  Tires and batteries.  Every time I spent less I got much less quality

I have Ohtsu 295 75 22.5 LR H 4 years no problem made in Japan.

I have Bridgestone bus tires lrh. Had the for 6000 miles and happy with them. Can't compare to Michelin as I changed them out before I went anywhere.

I also inherited Toyo M154s (295/75) which i like, They have been on the coach 5 years or will be on for 5 years in a few months now, I noticed in the lastmonth that the front right has side wall cracks , they are very minor but was very suprised to see it, I will be looking at new tires, I will be selling the coach this spring so will probably leave them as a option for next owners on brand, otherwise I would probably replace with Michelin for myself, I do not have any complaints on the Toyos otherwise,

Tried Firestone in the size listed above. They "zinged" on the air bag supports so had them removed and replaced with Continentals and very happy. How many people do you know who changed all six tires twice within 24 hours?  ^.^d

At 7 years replaced my OHTSU's LR-G's which rode very well with Continentals LR-H's, and I am very happy with the ride.

Replace 7 year Goodyears with Michelin when at FT having service done by Wayne. I am really happy with them even though the price was over 3CB. I don't like the idea of 7 year old tires having a tire issue so new is cheap insurance.

We had 7 year old perfect Toyo's on the rear of our 36' U295 coach when we bought it last Nov.And ten year old Michelins on the front.No Cracks, they looked brand new.Having been a service advisor at a large RV store, and also personal experience with older tires (tires with dates more then 7 years), we bought new tires.I would have never foregiven myself if we blew one out, and did damage to the coach.
Les Schwab gave us $100.00 each for all 6 tires. $2200.00 out the door after trade, for 6 new Toyo's, mounted, all balanced, and new stems.Love them, no difference in ride.Love them

I talked to a MH owner about tires one day. He told me several owners he knew

would  run an ad on Craig's list and offer his old tires for sale.They would have

people come and look and when they had a buyer they would

get their new tires and have them mounted and the buyer for the old tires

would pick them up, at that time. They were tired of the tire store wanting to

pay little or nothing for their older tires. He said there was always a trucker

wanting newer tires with tread still on them. Just a thought to pass on.

Yup, have had really good luck selling all other types of tires on craigslist.Truckers don't mind age, as long as they are not cracked. Many use them for around town use.

I replaced my tires November '15 with Yokohama RY 617 295/75R22.5. I have put 7,000 miles on them since. I do not know how these compare to the Michelins that were on the RV as I replaced them the first day I owned it. They were the original tires with a date code of 1993. Bolton-James (864-585-0694) in Spartanburg did the work out the door under $2,900. You may also check with Skinner Tire (864-599-0026) at exit 10 on I-26. They handle heavy trucks and RVs. and can get any brand. They replaced a set for me on a class C a while back and did a good job. Let me know if I can help.
