Polishing the coach in NAC

Has anyone had any experience with having their coach polished in NAC??  I am thinking of going down in April to the 50th and would like to spruce the coach up a bit after the winter here in Montana. I realize that FT can do it but there may be others (cheaper)??

I used Extreme in conjunction with the repaint of the stripes - I also used Precision Auto Clean on car

They are a local detail firm did a VERY nice job on my Tracker - they are not cheap - name escapes me - they do Aa lot of FT coaches - Book early - they are busy!

Precision is the place to go.  They did ours two years ago and with regular WashWaxAll use it still looks great.  The whole Fluff and Buff process took three days.  Stay in your coach day and night.  It is way more than a wax job it is a complete exterior detail.  They even polished the aluminum parts of the awnings and cleaned the insides of the bay door.  They cleaned the bay door handles with a toothbrush!  Perfect.

Treat your coach and yourself to a day (or three) at the Spa.  She deserves to be pampered.

Three days in the Spa was about $1300.  Once every three years for the rest of your live is less than a paint job.

Precision is on the West side of University Drive, here in Nac. I see coaches being done

there all the time. Their work looks great. I do not know what they charge, maybe Roger

can give us a ball park amount. All of the local FT owners look forward to having so many

come to visit. I hope the Azaleas will still be pretty for you.

Speedbird, if want send me a pm, will send you info on prices I knew, but hesitate to post as may be outdated.  There were three levels available then.

The Grimmets looked at our coach a couple of years ago and declined to do the work, said it looked such it not need the help unless I wanted a couple of scratches buffed out.  But I think it time to return.....get er done....just from envy of the job they did for Roger and Susan.  (I already, as many on this Forum, use Wash Wax All that Rudy suggested....think it contributed to the appearance that Grimmet saw and suggested we not do the work at that time)

I am sure you are very aware that it is important they have the proper technician do this, and they know that....but if I take ours I will ask father or son, who is going to do, is it the expert.

Few years ago Xtreme sent a friend of mine out there to have it done, said they do a good job and could for less expense than they could.  He has a gel coat that is hard to believe how nice it turned out.  I am very sure if Xtreme would do it, it would be equally well done.

I have not heard of anyone ending up with swirls left in the paint or gel, but James at Xtreme cautioned me with our paint to work hard to avoid that, it a special paint....or it was back in 01!

I'm wondering what you paid for their service?

Not sure of your route but if you are going to be near Phoenix, European Detail is hard to beat.  Perry is the sole source for the Jackson Barret auctions work.  They are less expensive than NAC as of last year.  Our work went into 3 days and they used a four part process to bring back the gel coat.  Our final bill was $1050.  The depth of shine was pretty amazing.

George,

According to yellowpages.com, their Phoenix location is closed. They still have a listing for Scottsdale.

No one mentioned the full hook up spot behind the Precision building. Ryan the manager told me the Grimmett's had many FT motorhomes. IIRC it was 7. So they installed a full hook up spot for their Motorhomes. It is available for use. A complete detail took 3 days and we stayed in our coach every night.

Trent,

All is not lost Sorry I wasn't more precise because it was  Scottsdale where we had ours done.  We are headed to Apache Junction and RV Stripes and Graphics on the 6th for decal replacement from the headlights.  Thinking about getting the one day at Perrys after FMCA.

Thanks Guys,

I have spoken with Precision and that is where we will be.  They told me of the RV site out back with even a deck for transients getting work done.

Had lunch with Xtreme owner today, saw him at a favorite lunch spot.  He said that I was correct, they recommend Precision versus using their shop for full body detailing,  as I stated earlier.

However, Xtreme will do the full coach but pretty much only if it is in for other work, such as major delam repair.  Otherwise it is more cost effective for you, the customer, to send you to Precision.  Xtreme is so busy with fiberglass work and such that it takes too long to do the detailing properly.

In my continuing education though he mentioned that when a gel oxidizes, just as in polishing, it is removing some of the coat.  If done  too often, it diminishes the layer that protects fiberglass.  We will want to avoid making the protective layer too thin and thus not do detailing every year.

My fluff and buff is looking very good two years out.  I am a regular user of WashWaxAll.  Stay ahead of it and it is pretty easy to do.  Much easier to get the bugs off the front end as well.  I want to get the roof painted, just ran out of time this pass through NAC.

Had roof coating done by Xtreme, $1350 but must be higher now?  Was four years ago. Stopped oxidation and much safer walking surface.
