93 Grand Villa

Wife and I went from TN to Fl to see 93 ORED GV 36' Located in ST. Cloud, FL. Owner probably will come off the asking price of $27,545, but not by much, we did not get that far.

Vin#: 4CDN6BK23P2901343

Model #: G9643733651310O22CE13

Owner stated coach is in prime condition for its age, could not understand our reluctance to buy.

This coach has an Oshkosh chassis with spring suspension
8.3L Cummins
Allison 4 speed
It is the SBID model.
Hydraulic brakes

Tires about 6 years old (may be wrong about the age of tires, can't find my notes), no weather checking, plenty of tread
Front window, drivers side, horizontal crack from one side to the other, about 1/2 way up
Decals chipping,
Metal access panels rusty, chipped, and scared
Many exterior trim lights missing covers
Molding around driver's side rear wheel fender 1/2 missing
New residential refrig, nicely installed
Stove rusty,
Corian counter tops stained
Driver and passenger chairs cracked and in rough condition
Needs front end alignment

Stopped after 10 to 15 minute superficial inspection, decided not for us, too rough.

You did well walking (running) away. Keep looking for a GV with the Allison six speed & retarder.  ^.^d

If I were you, I think I'd get some better information/photos before wasting any more time and money chasing bad coaches.  (Unless you all just like the thrill of the hunt.)  And, that price was ridiculously high, in my opinion, even if it was in "pristine" condition - given that it's not a Unihome.

Even going to Nac you should be very attentive of what is offered. Lot of coach's need a good careful check.
Have it inspected by knowlegable person if you are not sure. Remember they are trying to sell everything on the lot regardless of condition.

X2.  When we visited FOT and MOT during our search for a coach, I never got the feeling I was being purposely mislead by any sales person.  They would all answer any question I asked with (seeming) honesty.  However, they will not necessarily disclose everything they know about a coach, unless you bring up that subject and ask a direct question.

For instance, one coach we looked at with great interest, was later found to have seriously bad corrosion problems underneath.  In our ignorance, we did not notice this fact, until it was pointed out by Brett Wolfe during his PP inspection.  We passed on that one.  I later found out that another Forum member had looked at the same coach, with the same salesman, and that the severe rust problem had been pointed out to the salesman as the specific reason for their not buying it.

Human nature being what it is, you can't really expect a (successful) sales person to "badmouth" their product by pointing out every flaw.  No used (or even brand new) vehicle will be perfect.  A condition that is acceptable to some buyers may be a deal breaker to others.  Each shopper must set their own standards, and have sufficient knowledge to determine the true condition of the coach (or else bring a expert inspector along to check it for you).

Like all of us we have researched and purchased expensive things over the years such as  homes, vehicles, watches/jewelry, collectibles, toys and RV's.

I have never felt as good about a purchase as I did when dealing with MOT. Yes, they are trying to move coaches but they do it in a collaborative, respectful and honest way.

Look at as many coaches as you can and get educated. I was able to use this forum for most of my education. When my coach popped up I was prepared. It happened to be at MOT. As a MH newb I was lucky to retain Brett Wolfe for my inspection.

My experience at MOT (with Brett's help) was absolutely the best buying experience that could have imagined.

Sometimes you get lucky: we researched for a year, no clue about this forum, bought her from R.V. Trader. What sold us, was the attention to detail both the POs had done with the paperwork: four 3-ring binders full! KENHAT turned us on to this forum. Imagine my surprise that one of the POs was none other than Brett Wolfe! Yes, OUR Brett Wolfe, not the champion bowler!
