Main Door Insulation and Latch Handle

Almost a year ago when I was at FT in NAC, the parts department gave me a door latch mechanism which was not really for my coach and it had some parts missing.  My inside handle had become worn at the pivot and they didn't have that part.  They thought that maybe I could use the handle on the piece they gave me.  This week I finally did something with it and found that I could use the new handle by transferring a part from the old to the new handle.  Most of the pictures were taken after the replacement.  Not sure what coach these parts are for, guessing older than mine.  If anyone needs some of it let me know.  My old handle was chrome plated, and although worn, would probably last a few more years.  The new handle is black.  There is nothing on the mechanism plate below the bottom of the picture.  It has my old handle on it in the picture.

In order to do this I had to remove the vinyl cover on the door.  Not too hard, just a lot of screws especially for the trim ring for the window.  The door is constructed of aluminum sheet metal and welded in some places.  Just edge welded with an arc and no welding rod added.  I found 3 of these welds cracked.  Used some double sided carpet tape to refasten as these welds did not seem critical.  The door did have some insulation in the open middle section.  About 2 inches thick, but there is nothing in the rest of the door, just hollow cavities.  Thought about drilling some holes and installing some canned foam, but didn't.  Maybe a bit risky as the expanding foam might expand the door!

My inside door handle didn't become loose slowly it came off in my hand last week, not a very good way to start our spring trip. So now we are home I can get on that fix, for those of you wondering how we got by without a handle ? .....a wide blade screw driver and some fiddling until I found the formula then it was open sez-me in a couple of seconds. Thought I was going to bail out the bedroom window on the way home till I could get a lock assy. We pulled in the drive an hour ago and now the search begins
