Acid wash recirculation

I am getting ready to do a vinegar flush of the water system.  How would I recirculate the solution?  Wouldn't the vinegar be emptying into the grey water tank? How would I get it out of the gw tank and back into the system?

Vinegar is fairly cheap. I do not think I would want to recirculate anything

out of the grey water tank back through the system I plan to drink out of.

Even if you run bleach behind it. The only recycle I would consider would

be to catch the water coming out of the kitchen sink faucet.

My thoughts also, but there was one comment in the archives that mentioned recycling and I was wondering how it was being done.

Why on earth are you wanting to flush vinegar through your fresh water system? If you want to sanitize it all you need is a bleach solution in your fresh water tank. All kinds of information as well as videos on the web on how to do it. You definately don't want any of your sewer,Grey /or Black to ever enter your fresh water tank.

Only reason I can think of for vinegar is if he has calcium build up but a baggie tied to the shower head or faucet would take care of it that way too.

Mike,

Once we get the system full we just let the vinegar set at least 24 hrs. and it works just fine.  Circulating the vinegar may speed up the process but have never used this option. We acid wash ours every year even though all our water goes through a water softener system.

The reason for doing the whole system is that the fittings in the PEX lines (especially hot side) collects calcium. This will keep the system flowing properly.  Now some may say that this may cause a leak in my fresh water system, No you had a leak and it was full of calcium and need to be fixed anyway.

IIRC it's recommended to do this for the AquaHot, which is pretty challenging to do if you're trying to get the hot water portion into a baggie  ;)

Interesting. I never did it for my AHs. I could see how it might help.

That was my laugh for the day. I could just picture how big that bag would have to be

and someone wrestling it and the AH and then the vinegar.. I needed something funny,

have had fridge problems today.
