window screens

My screens are in good shape, but the felt "wiskers" on the vertical edge are worn. The screens also have a slight warp that makes the problem worse. In many places in the country this would not be a problem, but in northern Mn. the bugs can drive you crazy! I checked the web and did a search here and could not find info on replacing these wiskers. Any ideas? Thanks, Mark

Hi Mark.  Probably no bugs up there in the next day or so with the snow.  We are just going to miss it here in Hastings.

Try this. It is a 3/4" wide self adhesive polyester felt tape.  Very good adhesive. It comes in other widths but you can cut this to any width you want.  Pretty cool stuff. Lots of uses.

I believe "pile" is the correct term for the whiskers.
Are these what you are referring to?  https://www.google.com/search?q=window+seal+pile
On my 91 the windows are made by Hehr and I think yours are too: Hehr International
I have heard you can buy replacements parts and seals from them.

That's a great find.  When I had all my windows rebuilt by Suncoast they said that weatherstrip was unavailable.
