Slide Bladders

Does anyone know the best way to temporarily repair a hole in a bladder?

There have been several posts on this. I do not have slides so I never paid much

attention. You can use the search box in the upper right corner and probably

find more replies than you can read.

I think wet suit material and the proper glue would do it???

I tried Aquaseal and a strip of rubber on a very small tear and didn't hold. I have an appointment at Temecula RV on the 23rd of this month for a replacement.

What did they quote you for repair?  How about lead time and repair timeline?  I am thinking this is in my near future and they would be local to me, but I live in my unit full time and need to plan out to make things as quick as possible.

I had HWH in Iowa do ours, was 3 days total (including chasing air leaks and doing the 6 packs) we just took a motel for 2 nights and stayed in the coach the 3rd night.

Even, Temecula RV quoted $793.00 for bladder, $620.00 for manifold and $1750.00 in labor plus tax and shipping. No more than two days. You must get a start date otherwise your coach will be there for awhile.

Much appreciated.  Who are you dealing with there?  I am going to make contact and see if I can get on the schedule for late summer.  I already have my slide out stripped down to the point that all they need to do is pull it out.  While it's out, I want to remove old sofa and fridge and insert new furniture and new 120v fridge which will save a ton of hassle for me down the road.  Lots of planning yet before I'm ready to do that.

Does your slid leak water when it rains?  That is the reason I believe I need to replace mine.  It leaks badly at the bottom rear when there is any significant rain.

If your bladder is holding air and you have rain leaks, I think you have other problems that need to be found and addressed.

I agree with Rich on the water. As we live in San Diego, we haven't had any rain since the bladder got a whole in it. Just came back from a 1500 mile trip and did notice there was more dirt/dust in the bedroom than before. I'm in contact with Travis. Just make sure you explain exactly what you want done. They basically have two options for working on your coach, 1, make an appointment, bring it in on said day and they work on it when they can or make an appointment for them to start on your coach and bring it in the day before. That's what I'm doing. Have been told they have hookups for people who need to have power, also, they won't let you near the coach when it's being worked on. I'm going to ask Travis about that today and might go there to check it out

I would especially be looking at the windows and areas around them.  IIRC there have been some delamination issues in that era coach's (2000) slide due to adhesive failure.  Search on John S's posts on his 2001 slide and you'll see some photos.

My guru buddy's adjoining shop was changing a bluebirds slide out gasket while I was there talking to him about other things and he thought the bird was maybe going to have future issues.

When I asked him why he held up the old hwh seal and the newer design ones.

The originals were like a bike tire tube I think and has a large amount of expansion area.

The newer design has a much thicker top and less expansive ability.

Meaning if you coaches slides have a good even gap around them the seal will be good and last longer.

Which most .Foretravels seem to have as very little comments about issues have been reported here from those who have had theirs replaced.

The SOB's with worse dimensional quality builds may have issues with the redesign.

They had to readjust the birds room several times to try to get a full seal.

There is a 30a connection out front.. I think there are 4 of them but only about 3 when trying to get in at the angle of the drive. I have used it about 3 different times.  I went out and looked at mine when they were working on it and we went over the repairs after it was taken apart so not sure why you believe they would not let you near it.. I walked it to see how things were going and they had it torn apart for a week before that. They are very accommodating to say the least.

I am sure if you call and talk to Erik or Travis they will help you as best they can.

David, that's good to know. I was under the impression that they wouldn't let anyone back in the work area when they were working on the coach.
