Electronics Bay Cooling

Troubleshot electronics bay overheating  issue.  Found squirrel cage fan locked up and motor overheated.  Disconnected power and ordered replacement from Amazon.  Thanks Michelle for posting the replacement part number.

Thinking about changing airflow to exchange air with the coach interior during summertime when ambient temps are hotter. The idea has been shared before on the forum -- basically create an inlet air port from the coach and exhaust the heated electronics bay air into the coach.  This should effectively make the bay an air conditioned environment.  I'd want to make sure the inlet and outlets air ports have some acoustical baffling so the compressor noises are attenuated.

Might want to add an air filter to the squirrel cage intake.  Thoughts?

I considered going this route for our 270 but found that we have stayed within our desired range.  I don't know how the flow is set up in your  compartment but for ours I was doing the reverse.  Opening with muffin fan in the bay pulling AC from the coach into space.  No filter needed as air exhausts through air vents in floor.  The fan would have had a switch and a thermistor.

Does the new one run quietly?  Mine (2004 year coach) was replaced several years ago at FT and is noisy.  They tried to dampen it with an extra bracket and a rubber bushing but not much better.  If it is quiet I'd be interested in the order info.

Totally silent.  No vibration either.  This is the one I ordered.

I installed this one and had good results, very similar:

115V centrifugal fan

I hard wired it to the inverter output to run anytime the inverter is on.
