Slow starting, low voltage on VMS-PC

Well, another example of how the KISS system works, even if I don't do it the right way.

Recently it seems like my starting batteries are not as strong as they have been, slower cranking the starter, lower voltage on the VMS_PC  ( saw 9 while cranking once).  Batteries are 2 Group 34 Durlast Platinum batteries, 750 ca each with 3 year full replacement which is good until this November.  I have an ECHO charger installed and also solar going straight to my house batteries, so I should be fine, I think.

Yesterday took the coach over to AutoZone to have the batteries tested. They tested the bank together which showed good, but I asked them to separate the batteries to get a true reading.  Both separate batteries read good on the load test- good news and bad news.  I asked them to leave the batteries disconnected while I clean the connections, then I re-connected and tightened them myself.  The tech did say one of the connections was not real tight.  After I cleaned and tightened, I went in to start without using the boost button.  She fired up right away- success.

We then drove to the campground we are staying in and I turned off the coach while we went in for the process of checking in.  When I returned to the coach again I started it up without using the boost button, and she fired right up.

Moral of the story, I thought I was using the KISS idea about checking the batteries first ( after all they are still under full warranty), but the cause of the problem was either the loose connection, dirty connections, or both.  Thought I would share my experience to help others figure out starting issues if they have them.  Check the simple things first- KISS

Update- I got out my multi meter and tested the cigarette plug to see how the chassis batteries are doing- 13.35 volts.  We are plugged in  and the ECHO charger is keeping the batteries up, I assume.

Happy happy, KISS worked.................. ^.^d
