Lug Nut Cover Removal Tool

Well crud....went out to coach to get measurements for axle caps and discovered somewhere someone removed my lug nut cover removal tool out of my tool bucket (that is the name alright)...so now the search is on for a replacement in addition to a call to the last shop that may have had a need to use it...(good luck there). Anyway lug nut diameter is 1.75 inches...44.45mm...only thing I can find on the web is 33mm and 1.5 inches....anyone have an idea where to order? When measuring I took a caliper reading from one flat edge of lug nut cover to the inline flat edge directly across....not a professional lug nut cover measure'er so maybe this is the source of my error...but set calipers at 1.5 inches and they won't even begin to slide over the lug nut cover....I appreciate any help....got my mega coach buck wallet out!

Check out Big Rig Chrome Shop - Semi Truck Chrome Shop, Truck Lighting and Chrome...
They have a universal steel lug nut cover removal tool #UP90008 for $7.89
Jaws have plastic covers so your lug nuts aren't scratched.
I bought two pair when I was at their store West of the EAA Flyin in Oshkosh, WI.
They are on the west side of highway 41 on the frontage road and they also have a great catalog--179 pages of "stuff" for big rigs.
Just go to their website and up in the right corner--advance search box--type UP90008 and the lug nut wrench will come up and now at 10% off!!  Only $7.10

Dave - *if* you have Alcoa lug nut covers (aka "Hug-a-lugs"), here is a link to the Alcoa catalog to see if you can identify which you have https://www.arconic.com/alcoawheels/catalog/pdf/accessory_products_catalog.pdf

It does seem they only have one size cap nut cover wrench.  Perhaps you have a different brand of lug nut covers?

Here is the tool you need to remove the lug nuts and the inner rear dual. It's commonly called a "flip socket" as you flip it over to remove the rear studs for the inside duals. Available at most NAPA or tool stores. Check your lug nut size before buying. Socket pictured below is for a U300 and is 1-1/2"(38MM)x1" .

Note: there are three tools in the first photo. A 3/4" extension, a 3/4" to 1" adapter and the flip socket. To use on the 1" square drive rear studs, you flip the socket around and stick the 3/4" extension in. The other end will the the 1" needed to remove the stud.

Nope, it's just something that showed up in my Google search, so if you find the exact item elsewhere cheaper, buy it.  The only forum association is with Amazon through the links you'll find in the "supporting the forum" discussions.

All I can say is the 96 must have a different style or the clips are just weak, they come off easy.

The "96 has Budd wheels his are center hub metric and if like mine you need a plastic tool to unscrew the nut covers as they are threaded onto the stud to cover the nut.

Well the plastic tool is what came with my coach when I purchased last May....as far as what I see online it had to be 33mm...but I measure 44mm ....so....I will be looking for universal tool to replace the plastic tool.. 😃. Will advise.

Don't buy a 33 mm that is for the lug nut you want the lug nut cover tool sold by Alcoa the outside diameter of the cover is probably the 44 mm measurement. They are referring to the thread inside the cover

Hub Pilot Wheels use a 33mm nut. That would be 33mm socket size to remove them.
Stud Pilot wheels also referred to as Budd Wheels use a 1.5 inch lug nut that has a stud and nut on the dual wheel ends, These would use a special socket like what Pierce showed in above post.
Hub Pilot nuts have a built in washer like these:
