Re: powertech 10k stopped working Reply #26 – June 10, 2017, 10:18:36 pm The subject I chose is misleading. I am not having any engine problem with the Kabota 4cyl. What happens is A/C power is suddenly dropped. Sometimes after more than a hour and sometimes in minutes. After restarting it intermittently starts supplying power again. There is no common time that it takes for it to start working again. Once just restarting right after interruption it worked and other times over an hour. Maybe I am the first to have this problem. I will get the answer when I get home and post it for anyone else that might have it happen to them. Quote Selected 1 Likes
Re: powertech 10k stopped working Reply #27 – June 11, 2017, 01:22:36 am You need to check output prior to circuit breakers. If the generator has no voltage there, it is likely the exciter circuit. There is a troubleshooting chart in power tech manual (online). Intermittent may indicate a loose connection in this area. Quote Selected
Re: powertech 10k stopped working Reply #28 – June 11, 2017, 03:22:48 am Last year, prior to storage I took U-320 in for miscellaneous work. One item was to service Powertech 10K genset. When I parked in storage, decided I would crank genset to check out work. Would not crank. Mechanic had not reset switches. After I corrected, I saw no issue with power gen. A few weeks ago, immediately before first trip, decided to start/check genset before leaving. No AC shore power on panel. Reset breakers, etc., no resolution so then took to mechanic. Three hours later when I picked up, he said that they had found a loose wire connection. Only thing wrong and it worked well on the trip, so i would check wiring connections before replacing parts. But I have another issue I could use some help on about auto-start and will open another topic. Good luck with this one. Quote Selected

Re: powertech 10k stops producing electricity after an hour or so (stopped working) Reply #31 – June 17, 2017, 08:20:13 pm Updating the generator issue. Murphy's law says "what ever can fail will fail and at the most inconvenient time and place" It isn't mentioned that at the most convenient time and place it won't fail. The generator has ran for over 20 hrs. since returning from the Sierra's where it would intermittently lose electricity. It has not lost electricity at home. Talked to Jeff at Powertech and in order to trouble shoot the issue it has to quit making electricity. I have tried high load, medium load and no load, it just keeps working. Instead of wearing the generator out trying to get it to fail, I will take a small generator to the Sierra's in October and dare it to fail there. The information from Jeff is when it is not making electricity to use a volt meter at the top of the 45 or 50 amp circuit breakers and check for at least 4 volts. If 4 volts or more probably voltage regulator. No voltage bad generator. Quote Selected
