50 amp breakers (plural), one 30 amp outlet.

If there is a 50 amp outlet, but not in the photo, the breakers are not DUPLEX as they should be, but are individual breakers.

Lots of corrosion.

Appliances will burn up way before either one of those breakers trip.

In addition to the above the outlet on the right is a 20A 120V.  Do you think they figured 30A + 20A = 50A so everything must be good?

No 50a outlet. One 50 for the 30 amp outlet one 50 for the 20 amp. The NEC is different here in east Glaicer Mt. the up side of you don't need to worry about tripping breakers. Might have to worry about letting the smoke out of my 30 to 50 adapter.

As long as you don't draw more than 30 amps, you adapter will be just fine.

Draw more, and you are correct-- your adapter would be the "weak link".

I was at a park in South Texas where maintenance had replaced all the 30a breakers with 40's with no other changes.

I agree with Mark..... maintenance man was thinking 30 amp outlet plus 20 amp recepticle should need 50 amp breaker!
Probably wired them in parallel just to make sure he had enough ampacity available!!

No need for them expensive 50 amp RV recepticles, we can make the 30 do all you need........... :o

I don't hook to 30 amps that often, unless unavoidable, like now. I notice our "Powerwatch" sits at 112volts, where on 50 amps it sits at 120+, if that helps.  If I'm running 30 amps, I never use anything but one roof air and the fridge + our two computers and t.v.  I would NOT BE without a EMS,

Bruce,
We ran into a lot of wiring code errors (or intentional violations) on our summerlong trip to the Canadian Maritimes.  Since the populace is extremely friendly, I spoke with several about their installations and every one that I spoke to was surprised and expressed gratitude.  They thought that they had done things correctly (or their electrician had).  More than one offerred one or more nights free for having pointed out a danger or inadequacy.  Always approached it carefully and in a constructive way, so as to allow a graceful exit.

While I agree that this 50 amp breaker will not protect the 30 amp receptacle or your 30 amp power cord from overload, your appliances in your motorhome would not be in danger. The breakers in your motorhome power panel will protect all the circuits in your motorhome. Said another way, while the motorhome circuits would not be in danger, the 30 amp power cord would be at high risk for those who do not manage the maximum watts used.

For safety sake, it might be a good idea to add a 30A or less breaker to my 30A dog bone adapter.
