120v issues

Hmm. Seems that some of our outlets are working, others are not. The lower curbside living room, all the outlets on roadside from over the couch on i to the kitchen, the outside receptacle, none of those are working. Inverter , genset, or shore power. The ones in back work and the one under the cabinets across from the sink work. The AC breakers under the bed are all good. Where else should I look? This is a new issue...

Yea, you probably have a GFCI outlet in the bathroom. Happens all the time.

It happend to me once. Part of the problem is the color of the GFI. Instead of the usual colors of red and black, the're brown and really hard to see in the bathroom.

I am pretty darned sure that these GFCI outlets saved my life a few times, but I hate the fact that I forget to check them first. Doah!

There's an old story that the inventor of the GFCI died demonstrating it.  As I heard the story, he used to hold on to a live GFCI receptacle and jump into a swimming pool.  One demo too many.  Perhaps true perhaps urban myth.

I have found that some computer power bars with surge protection will trip the ground fault protector when plugged in. Resetting the ground fault protector will fix this and it will not happen again until the computer power bar is unplugged (or without power) for a few hours.
