95 u240 ride height adjustment

Simple question,
Is it possible to place and 1" thick square plate under torsion bar to raise ride height on rear of my 95 U240?  I do have 4 shims left on both sides to raise ride height, but I want another 1".

Pat,
What are your ride height measurements now?

And, no have never heard of using a plate under the torsilastic beam.

Several have added two air bags to each side in the rear.

Hello Brett,

 Thanks for the quick reply
I don't remember them right now, but it is sagging a little.  I now have 4 shims left and  as I remember that would not get it up to the correct height.  So I was looking,  the bar just sets on top of the axle, so why not put a shim under it on its mount?  Bags ruin the purpose of the torsilastic beam construction, no maintenance .  Shims would be lots cheaper fix.

Pat,

Don't overthink this.  Just remove the remaining shims and that should get you very close to the 1" that you need.  If/when you get to the point where the height is below 32", and you don't want to "spring" for new Torsilastic beams, adding air bag helper springs would definitely be a good solution.  Putting spacers in could buy you a little time, but it take very little extra labor to replace the beams.  I replaced our tired original 15,000# beams last year with the 19,000# beams.  In our case, the ride and handling really improved.

Dave,

Did you go with the new torsilastic springs from Sulastic?

You look at U-240 coaches for sale, and, thanks to some smart cookies, you don't have to think, "wow, that coach sure is a low-rider".  ^.^d  ^.^d
