10K Powertech Overheat Opinions

My 10K Powertech, with Kubota engine, has been misbehaving lately and shutting down.  Today, I got a laser temperature measuring device from O'REILLY as I suspected overheating (nothing but intuition).  The entire engine checked 93 degrees F. before starting.  The Kubota shut down after running (no load) for 16 minutes.  The thermostat hosing checked 210 degrees F., but the coolant reservoir on top of the radiator checked at only 145 degrees F.

Me thinks the thermostat is at fault.

Anybody have second thoughts on that?

Is there an air bleed in the coolant system?

Is/was the aux fan running? I turned mine off by accident, exactly what happened to mine.

Tap on the tstat housing, may persuade it to open.

If you already verified coolant is full, replace the tstat. It could be low coolant level not pushing up to the radiator. Could also be waterpump not turning if the belt is broken.

This probably doesnt have an "aux fan" my 1995 is direct drive via belt.

Your temp measuring device is infrared. The laser dot is only to assist with aiming. Keep in mind the further away, the larger an area it is reading. The laser dot doesnt tell you how large an area you are sampling.
