Leaking water line to ice maker...

Noticed a line of water running down the side of the coach yesterday - at first thinking AC condensation except this was mid-coach.  Looking closer, it was coming from the 'fridge compartment.  Opened her up and sure enough, there was a fine mist coming from the water line to the ice maker.  Three small holes in the tube just right beneath the brass fitting joining the two halves (maybe this had happened before?).

I disconnected the two, cut the bottom line where the holes were and tried to reinstall the plastic collar & insert brass tube to the line.  Well that didn't work - the water line must have enlarged by osmosis and the plastic collar was way too small now...  So I went to ACE hardware (we got a big one here which is always entertainment of it's own), to get some more brass...

While looking at the supply of connectors, the clerk showed me this plastic quick connect which looked too good to be true but I bought it anyway because ACE has never steered me wrong...  Back to the coach and 20 seconds later, installed.  Half an hour later with full water pressure, dry as a bone!

Being 96 outside (112 heat index, 50 humidity), I can live with this kind of outside repairs...

This type of "push-to-fit" fitting has become very popular in the plumbing trade, and for good reason.  I use them whenever possible when working on the water lines in our coach.  The 1/2" size works perfect with the PEX tubing.  SharkBite is a well-known brand, and has a large selection of sizes, types and applications:
