Remove side table & add a desk + TV...

Thinking about modifying this area of our coach... (this side table is useless)  The laz-y-boy recliner took up way too much room so it has new owners.  We had thought about getting one of those euro-style recliners but in the long run, we'd like to add a walnut desk area with cabinets and add a 31-40" TV that would rise from behind the desk instead.  The drivers seat turns completely so as to be a good seat for viewing as well as the couch and iff need be, the dinette area.

Any suggestions on who to use in the Nac area who can do cabinetry?

(Kim said to not just specify Nacogdoches as we'll be full timing again soon so OK, anywhere else?)

I changed mine out but you probably have an AH register under there that you will have to build around. I would use David F at Foretravel

Bill, I have the same table and like you, can't stand it, takes up too much room. Looking forward to what you end up with and who does the work. Don't forget to add pictures!

We pulled our side desk out, did not use a recliner and installed cabinets (that could be used for a desk if needed. We put our TV on top of it, so sitting on the couch and viewing is nicer. We were going to do the rising TV, but after looking into it, the mechanism was more than we wanted to spend, and whether it would work in a mobile application was another worry.

I do and it does... so the base of the desk/cabinets would be at the same level as the side table.  Thanks for the recommendation, John.

We're in Nac in a couple weeks getting some delam work done, new tires & some misc. stuff so we'll check around and get some costs...  might be getting this work done at a later date  :o .  Once done however, we will post pics, Richard!

Yeah, I've wondered about that mechanism, too, Len...  Just didn't want the TV always blocking the window or have to worry about securing it for travel...  but then again, cost make dictate a change in plans-preferences... ;)

Bill,
We did ours almost a year ago. We purchased upper cabinets from Lowes, and made a top out of strips of oak. So far we have been storing the TV in the left side of the cabinet when we move. I got a wall swing mount that I intend to mount from the top cabinets. I just have to wait until I am somewhere I can find a welder to modify it for that use.

Bill,
Not a great shot, but here you go.
The forward part is a two door, undivided top cabinet box, and the rear is a single door. I joined them together then built up a "pedestal" approx. two inches tall. Then attached to the floor and wall.

I see what you did, thanks for the photo!  That matches very well with the rest of the cabinetry.

I'd like to get some cabinets/shelves along with a curved desktop allowing for the passenger seat to turn inward and then allow for a chair to go underneath it.  Not sure how much room we'll get with cabinets and desk area...  maybe even not feasible to the extent we're looking at...  after all, it is a 36' ;)

Trent,
The PO had those installed, I think at MOT. If I were to do it I think I would have laminated oak strips to have curved the ducts.
It does work well, though.
