I like Photo #001 - graphic evidence of the rare (and desirable) "length challenged" status of your classic coach!  Enjoy your new ride!

It actually has a better hp/lb ratio than many of the bigger 320's.

Randy & Karen,

So happy you bought what you wanted.

Dinette on the kitchen side just like you saw in ours and you found it in 34 feet!  Nice work.

Like one comment said.....it is a rocket.

Randall Cox had one, later sold for a 40 ft slide coach, and that 34 would really scoot.  Did not realize it just in talking, took a ride to find out.

Now, next is to do like Dave Metzer did......

Andy's coach isc 350:  1 hp has to move 77 lbs. My coach ism 450: 1 hp has to move 86 lbs.
Can't do a Dave Metzer on the isc. no easy way to increase power without sacrificing reliability.

just funning you guys....but I could improve my wt/hp ratio even more too, just buy another coach without the slide, etc and then I would lose the weight of my wife too!

(but even so, as we are, we are at 75 lb/hp.....maybe more importantly though would be our wt/torque ratio?)

Thats where the ism 450 shines, it has 1450 ft/lbs, the isc, 1050 ft/lbs.
The ism 500 has 1550 ft/lbs.

as I recall, the ISL 400 comes in at 1250 if someone cares to know, add to their chart.

Now for the other stats, there were variations on the 8.3 as I recall Brett talking one day.....or maybe Don Hay....were some 325, others 330 and then the 350??

And I hear the talk at times of the 5.9.  Maybe in the 220 or 240 series?  Not recall specs.

Before 99 270's and 295's were 8.3 ltr 300 or 325 hp cummins or 300 hp cat 3126's. 1999 to 2001 believe all were 8.3 350 hp isc engines. In 2002 they went  to isl 400 cummins [8.9 ltrs]
If you could find a 34 ft 270  without a slide built in 2002, That would be a fast coach.,

Can I see a show of hands of the folks who think their coach has too much horsepower...???

Re: Pictures of Our 2000 U270 34'

You can't have too much horsepower in my opinion. It's how you use it that becomes the problem. My 350 hp. 1977 Cummins 855 cu. in. crane weighing 50,000 lbs. got better mileage than my 1981 International DT 466 cu in. @ 210 hp. weighing in at 31,000 lbs. If you have the horsepower you don't need as much throttle to move the same weight. And if you do need it, it is there.

Cannot remember a single motorhome customer buying a full size coach ever buying a less powerful engine.

At least my ca customers from 84-96.  Flat ground Midwest or east coast folks may not notice or need more power although
