Parking on Crushed Shell

Our side yard has a 6-8" layer of crushed shell where we previously parked our 5th wheel.  We toyed with the idea of pouring a concrete pad but wonder if the $6k could be better spent on more "fun" coach improvements.

Any downsides to parking on non-concrete surface?  Shell drains well so no standing water is likely.

I would use the 6,000 for more fun things, don't think the shell should cause any problems.

6k concrete? Shells in place? I say 6k will buy lots of cold cheap beer and tacos!!! That's my take on this! ^.^d

No concrete for us, that 5 or 6K will pay for all the fuel and campgrounds on our trip to the Oregon coast next summer.

In our new RV shed we are putting down 4" of shell on hard packed ground with 2 to 3" of asphalt millings on top of the shell.
Tires should stay high and dry.

Gotta have priorities!  ^.^d

Shells or concrete ... either way Michelin suggests you want something waterproof between your tires and what is under them for longer term storage.  Even a piece of plywood will do in a pinch.  I got scraps of vinyl flooring free.  They worked for a couple years and then sort of fell apart.  The plastic "cardboard" boxes or yard signs work.  I got FLOR carpet tiles (19" square) with heavy vinyl backing for 75ยข each from their clearance store.  They are very nice and very tough.

The $6K will buy lots of fuel.  There are lots of campground bargains if you look.

My favorite place for dry camping is a place called Magnolia Beach, about 20 mile southwest of Port Lavaca Tx. Great shell beach. Once parked too close to the waterline and woke up to 2 inches of water under the coach, no problem, did not sink in like a sand beach.
About 6 Canadians [Quebecers] not speaking English, spend a couple of months there every year in 5th wheelers. Nice people, but noisy generators. It is a shame, because probably no camping there for a while.

Just curious about the theory behind this, are tires not to be exposed to wet conditions, including driving?

We live in Southwest Florida eight months out of the year. I built a base under the drive where we park our motorhome of 6 to 8 inches of large "shell" rock and topped it with fine "shell" screenings, had the driver of the dump truck compact it with his tires after he spread it, and now it is like concrete. We did this about 12 years ago . The weeds can't even grow through it. No adverse effects to the motorhome that I can see. I have less then $1,000.00 invested in this drive.  ^.^d
