Oh yes, the Odd Couple dragster. I asked Leo Dunn once, why would you put a big block Chrysler Hemi, and a small block Chevy together in a race car. He told me so the big Hemi would give you the torque off the line, and the small block Chevy would twist the Hemi's RPM's up at the finish line. It did, and it worked.
If only we had innovation like that today. But nope, we get to watch the same 8 cars race the same 8 cars with NHRA. Not only that, slow guy races faster guy 1st round. read $$$$$$$$$ is the winner......Yawn.
Here is the newly restored Leo Dunn dual engine BB Chevy dragster. it was displayed at the Sonoma race (once my home track), next to my good friend Steve Castelli's "Hot Rod Willys" . Leo was a friend. I actually sponsored the car for a while with my van shop.
