Spotlight

Got the spotlight up and working on the 270. Always really liked those things. For anyone adding a spotlight on a bus, you have to mount it just a hair behind the front cap seam, almost right up against it. If you go back an inch or more you'll drill into the cabin or into the solid wood cabinetry.

I was checking out my schematic and noted that it shows a spotlight circuit breaker (#22) and sure enough there it was so I used it. Here's a few photos.

Mounted the control pad behind the retarder where the useless cupholder was.

Looks good Jor, can you share where you got that light? The gears in mine are shot.

Ours was pretty much inoperative when we got our coach.  I took it apart and messed with it - got it working again.  They are pretty simple inside, so don't be afraid to try fixing the old one, before you resort to replacement.

Thinking about this one. You would be a popular guy pulling into the campground at night.

Thanks Chuck. I'll try to fix it first. I am pretty sure it's a gear issue.

I used to use the ray line roof spotlight when driving at night in forested areas or where sideroads entered.

Shined the spotlight maybe 3-400 yards ahead pointed at the shoulder.

Froze a few deer and a few in a hurry people from jumping out in front of me which invariably seemed to cause me to have to turn off the cruise control.

We used to drive a lot at night up to 12 midnight.  Enjoyed our day wherever we were then put in 300 or so miles that night

I've had it laying around for a few years. Finally got around to fixing it (needed to have a couple wires soldered back on). It's the standard Jabsco-Rayline used on a lot of Foretravels (model 135SL). You can pick up a new one on eBay for a couple hundred. There's a new one for sale now for a hundred that doesn't include the control. I was going to buy it if I couldn't fix mine. spotlight
