1973 Foretravel Super Luxura

I have the opportunity to buy a foretravel super luxura rv, the ad says that it's 25 foot and uses a Chevy Chassis and the seller believes a 396 Chevy V8. I haven't been able to find very much information on this particular year foretravel rv. The ad says that runs well and I'm looking for any information I can get so I can make an informed decision. Thanks for any information anyone can provide.

WOW!  I don't think we have any members on this Forum who own a '73 model, but we do have a lot of general Foretravel knowledge that may be helpful.  Others will chime in.  You would be a brave person, indeed, to take on that restoration project.  However, if you possess the skills and the resources to do the job, or the money to pay someone else to do it, then you would surely end up with a wonderful, historically significant, classic motor coach.

Good luck, and if you decide to jump on it, please keep us posted on your Great Adventure (with lots of photos).

Found this in one of our excellent tech libraries.  Not a '73, but should be close, although they were all "hand built" in those days and probably each one was a little different.

Very cool, would be a one-of-a-kind project. Maybe the OP should start a thread about "Gramma & Grandpa" coaches!

Obviously if you are considering such an old rv, you have to be very handy at fixing stuff. That thing is beautiful in its own way. If you get it, i'll look forward to hearing the story of fixing it up and using it!

Plus, if that one pulled in next to one of us at a park, the beer would flow!

IMHO  the big block motor in there is probably a GMPD 400/401 it's basically 396 but by 71' or 72' they were all GMPD 400's. Much like when you popped the hood on a late 70's Oldsmobile and the 'Rocket' was gone and a GMPD 350 ci was lurking there.

My guess would be a 454 Chevy, That and the Ford 460 and Mopar 440 were the gas engines of choice back then.

Agree, if chevrolet, probably 454. I had one once, had plenty of power for my 33 foot motorhome (Holiday Rambler).  I had a little issue with overheating and should be less of problem with smaller coach.  Most of parts for it were really cheap with regard to brakes, wheel bearings, calipers etc.  I would also love to see you get that bad boy going.  Certainly a doable project for the right person.  Agree also, I would have to offer you a beer to see it if we were in same campground.  Best wishes either way you decide.
