toilet sprayer leak

I want to add some Teflon tape to the nozzle on the toilet sprayer but assume need to turn off city water connection, pump off, and depressurize water lines to avoid flood (duh).  Anything else?

Thanks Tom.  Now that you said it it makes sense. Didn't want to take a chance but your suggestion made it easy. No drips at the threads.  Apparently what we're seeing is residual water left in the head.  We'll try simply holding the head over the head for a minute upside down..

If you are lucky, when the sprayer was installed, there may be a shut-off for the sprayer at the floor or inside the toilet tank on some electric models. A shut-off is a really good idea to have there.

After using toilet pedal, hold hose up and squeeze handle to let water drain into toilet and let air into the nozzle.  This will reduce drips.

Despite adding Teflon to threads between hose and sprayer and depressing the sprayer to relieve pressure after foot pedal is released we continue to get water leaking from what appears to be the thumb switch on the sprayer.  I can only assume that if leak isn't coming from threads or rubber gasket that the sprayer nozzle itself may be defective.

Not a lot of water leaking but enough to keep a towel below the nozzle rest.

Standard replacement nozzle?

Randy,
You should be able to go to ACE Hardware and get a new head.  I believe they are the same.

Any nozzle will work.  We use a Brondell CSL-40 bidet hose and sprayer attached with a hose barb into cut-off original toilet hose.  Water only flows from nozzle when toilet pedal and nozzle are pressed.
