I will be replacing all my basement lights with LED's as part of my Summer 2017 (yes, I am slow). I should have a couple of unbroken ones, depending on how many times I have to crawl in and out of the basement in the process.  :headwall:

I am using these in the basement bays and almost every interior overhead cabinet, closet, bathroom and kitchen cabinet.

Roger, my intention is LED everywhere too. So in basement you'll use no cover over housing?

If so that will void my need!

The only place my LEDs are not in a track and covered is in the engine bay where I used a strip of waterproof LEDs.  They proved to be not very reliable in other places where they get used a lot.  So in the engine bay where they don't get much use, i used them up held in place with small clips.

There is too much moving around in the basement bays to not cover them.

I replaced my bay lights with these 8 years ago. They are so thin they are up out of the way and somewhat protected. No longer banging into and breaking the lights. See no need for a cover. Cool White High Power LED Light Fixture with Switch | Aluminum Light Bar...  I bought the ones with a switch because I don't trust the bay door switches.

Randy,
If you insist on those lights you can have mine . They are going to be gone when I get to Florida.

Randy,
Here are some aluminum extrusion with lenses you can use in the basement and other areas.  I'm sure you can find others online.

The LE brand has been very reliable for me.  Better than any other brand.

Where are you mounting the little transformer boxes these need to operate?

All of these are higher quality strips with enough voltage tolerance to just use the coach 12v wiring directly.

The micro LEDs wired directly into fine copper wire that I use on the awning have no voltage compensation so for those I use a plug in power supply with dimmer.  Plugs in in the water manifold bay, wires run up the awning arm.
