Service work

Tried MOT and Foretravel and Old Town.  No luck in getting the front arm installed on my awning. Either won't do or booked.  Infinity said yes.  Going there on 13th. They are also going to repair couple of other items while there. Very good on phone.

John, are you saying that if you arrive at a shop in Nac with an emergency that they will not work you in but make you get an appointment and wait until time?

Something I never did with emergencies, I figured a way, because I understood. Maybe the same bunch that own the shops in CBC also own the motels and restaurants?  ^.^d

Got to look at the other side of the coin. Imagine you are the person who made the appointment and arrived to have your work done. Then the company (FOT or MOT) says to you, sorry there was an emergency repair and you have to wait another day before we can begin work on yours. I am sure steam would be coming out the ears, right? If they are slammed with appointments, then all you can do with an emergency repair is to sit and wait until they can fit you in. Yes, it means living in that wonderful RV. We have done this many times and found better results waiting in the lot until the time could be found. Just my two cents here.

Do not know about FOT, [never asked them] but OTM and MOT have always gone out the way to help me, especially in an emergency.

John, I do not think I got a reply about your emergency question, so i will just echo jcus

At MOT they did have a triage sort of approach.  Guess still do. Broken down on highway, special call line for customers.  Broken down on highway but get into MOT, they work on it quickly, depending circumstances.  Have happened meet a few such people and seen several back on the road in a day or three, depending on parts of course

There are other demands for service....just sold a coach, prior appointments,  but when they split deliveries to the across the highway new site, I think deliveries of sold coaches are not or not much in the mix of appointments or emergencies.  I have seen them talk to customers too to rearrange work in service to work on a special situation, have had that happen to us and readily agreed to put the sudden need ahead of us....anyone would.

I saw them set things aside and put four techs on a coach, get three day projects out in one day where there was serious illness needed that.

Best i know they do great with emergencies but I may not know if that process has changed.

I expect FOT does same, knowing Isaac at Infinity I imagine they and maybe OTM does similar.

Also as one response noted, they are not a diesel repair shop.  For that you need Beau or Berndt.

What kind of arrangements do you suggest? Not really practical to hire a tech just to standby for your work. I believe that if you have a history with the service facility, they will probably try to help you out if you are really in trouble. Obviously things like new flooring, awning repair etc., do not constitute being really in trouble.

If you're in a big hurry you always volunteer to pay overtime rates. That would help at some shops.

I have used a shop in Flagstaff when having "right now" problems. They like a box of fresh doughnuts in the morning!  ^.^d
