Shower Droop

Brass set screw won't prevent shower head from staying upright....drops down.  At 6'3" I️ need it to stay up. Ideas?

$43! How does that rail mechanism come apart? I may end up replacing the whole thing.  Wonder if it's svai in brushed nickel?

One solution may be to replace the screw with a bolt so you can really tighten it down by using a wrench.

We had same problem. A thin gauge star washer  and retighten did the trick for a nickel.

And if what Alan & Gerri suggested doesn't work here is another idea.
Drill a small hole (after positioning the head at your desired angle) thru both parts--just large enough to accommodate a press fit (percussion fit) of a small brass rod. The brass rod won't rust.
Another way: Drill/clearance the hole thru both parts, then use a brass bolt AND a nut.
Still another suggestion: position the shower head where you want it. Take a Sharpie and draw a line across both parts as a positioning indicator (in case it moves while removing the assembly). Secure/clamp the two pieces so they are immovable. Drill a small hole at their parting line (perpendicular to the bolt axis) and then insert a brass pin.
Brass threads: shear strength is poor.
Stainless threads: shear strength is a bit better.
Galvanized threads: Shear strength is much better. (and better rust resistance than non-treated steel threads.

Placing it where you want it and using a zip tie or something similar to bind the hose to the adjustment bar may keep it in the up position while you're saving up for the new swivel connector,  and allow for readjustment when the grand kids come

Look under the fixture where it mounts to the wall should be a set screw one at the top and bottom. You might try removing the screw abs cleaning the whole thing up. Likely hard water deposits gumming up things.

Randy, have same and height not issue, thing gets to where it just points back to wall too much. Not been motivated to address it but will try one of those ideas.

But have another idea for you....if you have the original shower head, look at one by Oxygenics.  It really made big improvement to flow and pressure.  Got one shaped like original, not the rain type, at Lowes.

Seems to violate some law of physics that can improve both, but it either does or we feel it does, which is about the same.

Whoa!! Hold it a minute here. Are we talking about the handheld shower head or the slider bracket?
If the slider bracket--for a temp fix--just put a hose clamp on the slider bar.

Go with the Oxygenics. Big improvement on all counts. About $33 on Amazon.

I replaced mine and it is night and day and only ran $50 to $60 if I remember. You could braze it..mark where it needs to be and have it brazed in place if you never move it but prolly cheaper to replace and will look nicer

Excellent SHower head
