Head Banger Mirror Solution

Ok, what few brain cells remain need protection.  What can be used on the passenger side mirror to either warn me or pad it?  It's at forehead level for me (Karen easily passes under).

I know your pain! I have nearly knocked my teeth loose on that mirror. I use some of the foam rubber pipe insulation that I cut to length and and open up. I use bungie ball canopy ties or velcro straps to hold it in place. Doesn't make it pain free, but it definitely helps!

I keep nailing myself on the upper cabinets.
Help there, too, please.

I had the same problem, tied florescent pink plastic marking tape to hang down from both mirrors. Streamers flying down the road get lots of stares. Could tape a piece of the same stuff on offending overhead cabinets.

Too bad they don't have folding mirrors such as becoming increasingly popular with cars;  some even offer the option as standard equipment.  Perhaps a folding mirror retrofit kit?  Any creative engineers out there on the forum?

I loosen the bolt and spin mine toward the windshield when not in use. Also mark with a magic marker to put back in same location when I leave again.

I take off my cap, seems like whenever I have a cap on I smack my head, it's not like I have poor coordination it's just I put on a hat/cap and my spacial awareness disappears. Duck under the mirror .....smack my head, Avoid the front TV ....smack my head. It was the same when I would have to wear a hard hat at work.....like a magnet I would duck under something .......smack my head.
Perhaps now it's just CTE, had enough concussions to make me wonder ? ?  :headwall:

Having hard hat on a work did not keep me from bumping head.  Started working construction while in high school and had a red aluminum hard hat, back before OSHA stopped aluminum for hard hats.  After a year or two, I noticed that - although I didn't specifically remember hitting head on scaffold tubes or i-beams - the dented surface of the entire hard hat looked like the moon's surface with ALL the craters.

Ditto Don and Tys.....simple, loop one of those connector string things with red ball.  Easy on and off....or you can watch it blow in the breeze as drive!

But maybe a Florida couple would use a fish float on the end of a string?  Or if from the Buckeye state, then a buckeye?  Hmm, from WestTexas maybe could use.....oops, best not post that.

You are right that this issue is a big one for many...
We hang something bright but soft down from mirror.  We run into the curbside mirror because we don't see it, and with the hanging-down item now at eyeball level, we avoid the head (& teeth) banging.

We were filling with propane in TN,  one of the guys who was going to help us back out after filling walked into the PS mirror, and went down like a ton of bricks. He was not hurt, but scared me!

When I was in junior high, the folks built a house that had a really nice entrance hall that had a chandelier that hung 6' off the floor. Having hit a growth spurt I was 6'1". I would come through the front door and clock myself on that damn chandelier.  It happened so many times that I started instinctively ducking whenever I would come in the front door.

The Pavlovian reaction was so ingrained that when I went back to visit that house fifteen years after moving out, I discovered that I still had the "instinct" to avoid that light fixture.

I guess the point of the story is that if you are as hard headed as I am, it could take a while, but you will get to where it doesn't happen anymore.

I always place two orange cones on the ground directly underneath the mirrors, forcing me to walk around and saving my noggin.
