Splendide 2100 wanted

I am looking for a used Splendide 2100. Mine has quit and I have not found anyone near me to repair it. I purchased a brand new one but found that while the overall dimensions are the same as my old one they moved the dryer vent over a couple of inches and I have no room behind the washer/dyer to install a plenum. I had to return the new one and may purchase it again, as I may end up cutting a new hole in the sidewall, but I am reluctant to cut holes in my coach.

If anyone knows of another solution, I am all ears. I took the Splendide to the distributor in Portland, OR. I thought they had repaired it but it only worked for four weeks before popping the ECO's again. I have replaced the ECO's and the Thermister three times with no luck.

I upgraded to 2100xc

Splendide Washer/Dryer | Extra Capacity | Vented | White

If you wait, you may find a take out, some folks don't like washer/dryer or prefer stackable

Good luck

Tim, thanks for replying. I want the 2100xc and that is the unit that I purchased and returned when I found out Splendide moved the vent outlet. I have less than 1" of clearance between the back side of the washer/dryer and the wall of the coach, as FT made it so that the dryer vent exits directly out the hole in the side of the coach. I wish I new a solution other than cutting a new hole.

Ken,
There was framing in the wall at the exact height of the 2100XC vent. I modified a vent periscope to reduce the space required and was just able to make it fit. I posted on it in this thread;

There are quite a few pictures and some discussion about making the unit fit. Maybe something there will be helpful or give you some ideas.

When I swapped out for the x/c this is how MOT made the vent work without changing hole.

Tim was that a swap from the stacked W/D to the 2100xc or from the 2100 to the 2100XC? Tomorrow I will measure the distance from the vent for my stacked pair to the 2100XC, as I just took them out to replace with a 2100XC, my wife wanted the extra storage.  and... these are my take outs Majestic Stacked Washer Dryer for RV or Apartment - appliances - by owner - sale

We (MOT) just changed out our original Splendide with a new 2100xc. Keith at MOT made an adapter for the new one to work with the original vent outlet. Keith Davis and his remodel group are the best.

Tim,  l wish I had room for a plenum like you show but there is less than 1" of room between the back of the Splendid and the wall of the coach. You have a 40' coach and mine is 36' so your installation must be somewhat different than mine.

Rick, thank you for your post. I have a call into FT to see what they did for you. I see that you also have a 36' coach and so I am hopeful that FT has a solution.  Is your Splendid mounted against the sidewall in the bathroom closet. I don't see how there is room for any kind of adapter given that there is less than one inch of room between the back of the washer and the wall of the coach.

The two ends go in the hole in the wall and the hole and n the Splendide. The metal that connects the two is approx 1".
I too have 1" behind Splendide. This allowed the install Go to Home Depot and look in the dryer vent area for this piece and you will see what I mean

Update on Splendide 2100 install

I have continued to try and repair the Splendide 2100 without success and have decided to install a new 2100XC, which means cutting a new hole in the side of the coach. My local Camping world allowed me to take the top and back panels off of the floor model and I saw that I could reverse the vent molding 180º and install a drill a new hole in the back of the washer that is about 8" below the current vent hole, so that I can avoid a steel cross member in the side of the coach. I have scheduled the guy who does my fiberglass work for end of the month to help me with all of this. I will post again when we are done. Wish me luck, as there was no other alternative given that I had only 7/8" of clearance behind the washer, so no room for a plenum. Motorhomes of Texas said that they solved this by extending the closet 1" out into the bath area, which I did not want to do.

Success at last!
New Splendide is installed and working. I was lucky to find that I could lower the floor of the closet by 4" as the PO had raised the floor by 2" to avoid hitting a steel cross brace for the exhaust hole, so taking out that additional floor and lowering the original floor by 2" allowed me to miss that same cross brace without having to flip the exhaust manifold and cut an additional hole in the new Splendide!. I drilled the new 3 1/2" hole in the side of the coach and my friend who does fiberglass work filled in the old hole using the plug from the hole that I drilled. This all took a long day but that was less than the time I had invested trying to find a solution to the broken old Splendide.  Big side benefit is that I now have 4" of extra hanging space above the W/D, which was really needed.

Sometimes you get lucky! :)

Mine was tight and I had to squeeze the flex down a bit but got to the existing vent hole. Glad you had a good resolution to your project.

Be sure to monitor the air flow out of your dryer vent every once in a while. They do clog with lint which causes it to overheat and shutdown. I don't even want to talk about how much that cost me to learn. There is a lint cleaning process document somewhere on the site.

Awww here it is. Splendide 2100XC "maintenance flush" procedure

Ken,  Good suggestion. I had checked that on the older unit for why it was not heating and blowing the thermisters.  Give that it exits the coach directly from the dryer I hope that there will be no clogs but I will review the site for how to clean it.

I like the new features in the 2100XC

Splendide recommends a once a month maintenance flush (Splendide conveniently leaves this tidbit out of the user manual). This of course depends on how heavily you use the washer. Use your best judgement. Lose of airflow out of the vent during drying is a good indicator that a flush is needed. Be sure to check it soon to establish your baseline of airflow.
