Purchasing inspections (PDI?)

I'm looking at coaches at dealers and privately. Although I was a mechanic many years ago, I don't really know what to expect in a coach, I have not owned one before. Should I insist on a 3rd part inspection? Check the history on carfax? It's a lot of money - so I'm not worried about the small stuff, I'm worried about the big stuff like chassis, suspension, etc., that could sideline the vehicle and/or cost significant amounts to repair.

Any advice welcome.
Mick

Only buy if get proper inspe tion if you do not have indepth experience on what you want to buy.  After narrow the search to one or two you really like, hire help.

I would not buy a coach without a 3rd party (hired by you) pre purchase inspection. I am not aware of Carfax for a motorhome.

Definitely have a inspection,  Foretravel Coaches are unlike any other coach you will ever purchase .
I have been involved with all types of vehicles , but a Foretravel has  many features that other coaches do not have.. so when purchasing mine, thre were a lot of things I missed. The motor, transmission,  brakes , any qualified mechanic can inspect. But that is only a small portion of inspecting a Foretravel.  I would highly recommend,  if possible,  to have the coach inspected by someone very familiar with Foretravel.
I love my coach, but I missed a lot of problems,  simply because I was unaware of operation a Foretravel.  Beautiful Coach, I love it,  just a little disappointed in myself, Should of hired a person familiar with the coach to do the inspection.

I skated without a inspection when we bought this coach on RV Traders. Because of all the paperwork that existed and was sent to me + copious pics, I pretty much bought it without actually seeing it in person! No regrets other than some picky picky things the PO probably never knew about. I agree about a inspection, though meeting the owner you can sometimes tell if they took care of the coach, or not. Good luck!  ^.^d
