Another CAT 3126 Question

My Tach just quit.  It's getting power and a signal from the sender so I'm pretty sure it's dead.  Its only action is a random full dial sweep (like the speedo does at start-up) at various times with the power/engine on.

I know that I can pull the unit and send it off for replacement and calibration, but that takes time.  Have any Cat 3126 owners replaced their tach and found a good pulse rate to use in calibrating the tach?  I'm pretty sure that it's not going to be the same pulse rate as the Cummins.

Thanks for any input.

Often it is just a bad connection, most often a bad ground, I would check that first (with multi meter, that ground is connected to ground).
